Anyone have any experience with fox float shocks? Just did some trading and picked up a set of gen 1 fox float evols. Hoping to smooth out the choppy dune ruts from tire tracks. Can’t seem to get a traditional spring shock soft enough in the initial bump stage.

Good man. I have only rode them on 3-4 bikes over the years but always liked them. Last set was on Eddie's CEO R at the meetup and his was super plush. Now granted they were probably setup for a lighter rider. Honestly I'd love to play with a set at some point. What length are those setup for?

They are 19.5 inch. Doing some research I found Fox does not really have part numbers for the 250R so you have to just figure out which shock is going to be the closest length and shaft travel. Also get the correct eyelets for the mounting bolts. I was told the set I’m getting were for a long travel 450R. not sure what arms. I’ll probably try to cycle the suspension to check the shaft travel.

That’s not what I wanted to hear. I wonder what application his were. I think Dave Moore posted something about taking them from snowmobiles and revalving them.

Eddie is busier than a one leg man in an ass kicking contest. I’d hate to bother him. I will probably just have to give them a try and see how they work I’m also going to try to find the part number and see what they are actually intended for. then I could call Fox with that part number and get more info. Ed Teixeira used to be pretty knowledgeable on them. may ask him some questions too.

Got the fox floats installed. Gonna be a bit of a project to get them set up. Adjusting air pressures seems like a pain.

I have some fox floats gen 2 they are great. They are super easy to adjust the air pressure, way easier then a standard spring shock. You just pump up the main chamber then the evol chamber which is more for bottom out resistance. Not sure how much you weigh but I can give you some PSI settings to start with if you let me know.

Nice! I have been curious how these did on quads. They are very popular with the rock bouncers and light weight crawlers. I ran a set on a Jeep crawler and was impressed.
From what little I know on them, they will be a plush ride on the dunes after you dial them in.

I messed with pressures . They felt super stiff pushing on the bumper. Rode them in a disced field. Felt rough but so did my 450. Not a good test. Spoke to a couple Shock guys about them. Seth fligge said the gen 1 fox were hard to gets parts for them. Decided I didn’t want to invest any more money in them. Sold them.
On the other hand, most plush quad I’ve ever rode was my uncles 450R with gen2 fox. Just not sure how to achieve that on a 250R. Fox does not make them for 250R. You have to adapt a shock for a different application like 400ex or 450R.
