Title: What size domes are you running
Post by: evaneyeball on March 04, 2020, 01:16:35 AM
just wondering what size domes are you guys using in any bore cylinder because when i took mine to LED he said it had had some dome work to it it was 23.5 cc dome on a cylinder 1.5 over stock and he said it wasnt anything crazy and it was a small dome but also he said that a 363 was still small. so i dont know, do you think this dome is big and what size are you running.

oh also on a completely un related note my quad when it was in gear and i had the clutch pulled in the rear tires would lockup like the clutch wasnt engaging entirely or at all. after it had been running a awhile of running it might start to work but would roll very little. but the clutch still worked and i was able to ride it without the bike stalling. the only stalling was because it is my second clutch bike and im still terrible with it. but is this normal this is my first 2 stroke and the only other 2 stroke that my dad or any of my friends have had access to is banshees and they do roll with it in gear and the clutch pulled in.

Can’t help on the domes.  Esr doesn’t give sizes.  Just pump or race gas.  Highly recommend race gas on a performance 2 stroke.  Even if your compression isn’t that high.

i ask stupid questions sorry but am still wondering about the clutch thing. is that normal, is it a result of bad oil or is it a bad part

I run a pro design cool head on my 67.25mm bore cylinder.  The dome is stamped 20cc's.  I never measured it, but have heard that the volume measurements stamped on those domes are not that accurate.

I run a mix between 98 and 100 octane, and feel that I could step down to a 19cc dome.  I never tried this, only because im too cheap to buy another dome.

Everyone has to learn somehow so the only stupid questions are the unasked ones. I assume you mean it drags when it's not running? Both my R's have drag if I try to push them around in gear with the clutch in... As far as dome size I've run 19, 20 & 21cc domes in my cool heads but now I have stock 86 heads on both R's & not sure what the cc's are on those.

No it doesn't just drag it fully locks up. I went down banshee hill with the clutch in hoping it would work but they were locked the whole way down. I am replacing everything to hinson cr125 clutch basket and inner hub and plates with trx steels. This might be wrong but most of it will be hinson cr stuff

On your clutch question.... I guarantee Arlen will tell you if there is something wrong with your transmission. Maybe you were using an oil that your clutch doesn't like. I run oem clutches and don't have any problems. Could it possibly be that your rear caliper isn't fully releasing???

As for domes.... Dome size is not something I really worry about. Compression ratio, cranking compression, and fuel octane are all that I care about.

I wasn't really worried about it I was just wondering. And it is very possible that it didn't like the oil it was the hp oil. And I didn't see anything wrong with the transmission but I will still have him look at it all. He will be putting the motor back together. The clutch plates were brand new and it still km did it and when they were old used ones it did it too. But i will be getting him son ones anyhow so it doesn't really matter. Well hopefully
