So I did a really big mistake that i regret, today I finished polishing up my Clarke dessert tank, and I hit it with a buffing wheel, and it had a really great shine, I want to do that with my plastics but I have sanded them 2x, can I just wire wool the clear coat off, go through with a 3000 grit sand paper, and then hit with a buffing wheel, or are they already too brittle and I'm past the point of no return?

I would start in small area first. work little by little. you can always sand off but you cant all on once its gone

So it's okay for me to take off the coating, I just have to be really careful?

What plastics do you have that have clear coat? Did someone spray actual clear over them?

It's my front and back, the rear is full bore, and the front is Maier, it's called lacquer clear coat, and I put about 3 coats on

Should be able to take clear off with sanding. Start with a light grit. If it is taking a long time, go heavier. Might be some chemical stripper you can use. I would investigate though, some chemicals might have ill effects on plastics. Fading, color change, make them brittle or melt.

Well I've wet sanded them 2 times, once with 220 and 320, I realized that was not high enough grit, and then I used 320, 400, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, and 500 grit sandpaper

Is the clear coming off?

Yeah, I just had to go all the way down to 220, then went to 1500, I know the jump is very drastic, but It works, and the buffing wheel makes it very shiny and smooth
