So because I have a powder coated cylinder and head and might run the risk of over heating I decided that I should try a coolant additive that is supposed to make the coolant more efficient and I have never tried any additives like this. The product that I used is called water wetter and it claims to reduce your engine temp by almost 20 degrees. Have any of you ever tried this. I am also using maxima coolanol with this stuff, I haven't rode it since I put it in but there is a slight possibility of going to winchester bay soon.

Distilled water is best for cooling. Add 25-30% antifreeze to the water for corrosion protection. You'll be good to go!

I only use regular old antifreeze and distilled water. I found that the other stuff really isn't a contributing factor to keeping my engine cool. A properly tuned engine in good shape will stay cool if you keep air flowing through the radiator. When riding with still air at the dunes my 391 stays at 185°f, going against the wind it is around 145°f, and riding with the wind I have seen it hit 200°f. Not enough air flow when riding with the wind especially when the wind is 25+mph. Vary your direction and keep the air moving.

Yes I am using radiator shrouds I dont know who made them but I can take a picture if needed. And this coolant was just extra and was just laying around from a different bike it's not old but just wasn't going to get used.

I used to run it and switched back to antifreeze. I had a internal water leak and burned a motor up because i didnt know i was burning water. With anti freeze you can smell/see it. Water weter in water isnt detectable. Im bad and dont check water every moto.

Kyle check out the trail tech TTO gauges - make a nice in line fitting with digital sensor for around $50. I finally put one on and wish I had done it sooner - nice to see where the temp is and has a max recall function too.

I’m also running the trail tech TTO gauge have been since I built my motor the gauge sits right on my handle bar mount so I can see it and. The hottest I think my motor has seen is like 197 when I had to pull our yfz450 out of dunes at dumont last season. It’s like Loren said a properly built and running engine and always keeping air flowing to the radiator it should never get hot I think mine averages around 180 degrees on a hot day at dumont sometimes cooler if I’m always moving

I have no idea what brand mine is it’s not stock and it’s probably at least 3” thick it’s a big ol radiator

Afco rad and Evans waterless worked pretty well for me on my slow technical trails.
Ran the Evans in my 690 Supermoto as well with good luck. Never tried the water wetter though. Have noticed it says something about 10 degrees cooler guaranteed.

used to run one with my trail tech, ended up blowing apart during a race. Never again will i run a plastic part in my water system.

My TTO in-line fitting was billet aluminum. I remember talking here with a few members about welding AN fittings on.
Dunbar I think is the guys name that sells the AN engine side fittings. I had -12’s on my AFCO radiator and wanted to convert the rest of my lines.
