Title: Grommets?
Post by: shawnhart87r on August 09, 2020, 01:42:35 PM
I'm restoring my 87r and found home-made electrical tape grommets on the 2 pegs for the air box. Does anyone know where I can find two of these or if theres a company that makes aftermarket? They are part #28 on babbitsonline. Also looking for a good connecting tube from airbox to carb. Any help appreciated!

I just ordered as set I found on Ebay. Other than that you could go to an Ace Hardware store or something similar and see what you can find.

I ordered a few from Babbit's, but it has been a few years ago. I have 1 or 2 for spares as I figured these would become NLA by the next time I needed some. I've seen then on Ebay also, no idea on quality, but they are a lot more expensive then OEM. Guess I better look for those, and put them somewhere I will remember.

If your not going for a 100 point restoration you could use two of the front fender mounting grommets & modify them to work as the airbox grommets. I just measured both & there the exact same diameter & only .025" difference in height(fender grommets are slightly taller). The fender grommets are also still available from Honda for under $5 each, just have to cut the flanges down. 1st pic is a fender grommet on left & airbox grommet on right.
