Hello every one, I am new to the forum but old to 250r's. After a 10 year hiatus of owning any I just purchased 2 of them this fall to build. After being out of the game for a while I can not believe the prices people are asking for used parts, which inspired me to look back at all the R's i owned and what a gold mine I would be sitting on if I hung onto them

Marc84, very nice quads. These are ones you had before?

Nice quads indeed! Welcome to the site. What are your plans for the new ones you're building?
-
Welcome to the site. You've had some nice R's but tell us what's going on with that sweet 56? I can see the wheel wells have been cut & it looks to be mini-tubbed with a set of MT sportsmans. I love tri-5's! Got any more pics?

Nice machines! Welcome to the site..

Correct. All 4 where from back in 2007-2009, The good ol days when 250r stuff was dirt cheap
I paid $3k for this one. Laeger chassis with Pep shocks and a Duncan 265 power valve engine

This one was by far my most favorite 250r I have ever owned. Walsh racecraft chassis with axis shocks, Duncan 265 power valve engine. According to the previous owner, this quad was built for Dana Creech. The handling of the chassis and the smoothness of the powervalve made me feel like a pro when I rode it

A laeger for $3k?! i could sell just my laeger suspension for that much.

Thats why it was the good ol days. It was like a perfect storm of circumstances going on in 2007 (1)There was 7 different manufactures producing race quads (2) Racers where actually getting factory support (3) There was the looming economic depression starting to effect people. The 250r market was completely flooded with very nice machines selling for peanuts. I was like a kid in a candy store buying up full quads and used aftermarket parts. Eventually the bad economy finally caught up with me and i had to unload my hoard to pay the bills. If i still had that hoard today it would probably be worth close to $100k in parts in todays prices
White and red Laeger paid $3k parted it out $9k
Walsh quad paid $4500 parted it out for $12k
Red Laeger quad paid $5k parted it out for $12k
White and blue Laeger show quad paid $5,500 parted it out for $8k
I hung onto the Laeger show quad till 2009 and the economy was already so bad I had too pretty much give the frame away.

Laeger pro trax chassis, with pep shocks, 310 motor, full bore plasics . It was basically a brand new quad, previous owner spent over $20k to build it
-
motor collection, never got a chance to put that PSI together

Marc84, that Walsh was very nice. Hell all were very nice. By chance were you on atvriders. Com? What are you plans for your 2 new builds? I can’t what see what you have planned. Prices have sky rocketed on these old gems.

Looks like tons of fun right there. Why does one need 5 trx250r motors? Because 4 was not enough

Thanks Joe. Not sure it may have been atvriders.com, not from me though. It had a ton of attention to detail and one off parts, so I’m sure it was built for a pro.
Here are the 2 I just bought. Both are 87’s stock frames. White one is bone stock, the red one has some decent aftermarket parts on it. Going to build the red one into a high end Mx racer and build the white one into a low budget XC racer with what ever spare parts I have left over from the MX build. I can’t believe how difficult it was to find these and how much I had to pay for them

Tire marks on the shop floor from doing donuts is always cool especially with 2 nice R's parked on top of them!
-
Marc - a couple of these look familiar, what were your usernames on the older forums (EXRiders/ATVRiders, ATVConnection, etc.), if you were on there?
-
Was not me. I dont think forums even existed back when I rode, lol

Brother, it seems like they have exploded in value just this past year. I have my 88 and I love it. But now I'm getting scared to ride it because of parts replacement costs.
Honest to God, some of the prices people are asking are downright scary. It bums me out.i mean there are a couple guys who just abuse us enthusiasts. There was a guy who wanted $7,000. For fenders last year. I'm now searching for an 05-07 400 ex to use as my daily rider. I got an offer for 9000 for my 250r. I didnt take it. I will NEVER sell it. I spent 26 years kicking myself for selling my 88 in 1992.
