Post by: The norm on January 16, 2021, 08:40:27 PM
Hey there fellas.  I am trying to mount a CR250 CDI in a sensible way. Could someone please post a picture of their favorite mounting location.
Thanks Loren

Loren, I’m assuming your asking for the 1999 set up.  When I had it I did not have (could not locate) the mounting rubber for it so I used a piece of rubber sheet and zip tied it to the upper frame rail....not ideal but I was pressed for time.  Since that time I’ve located the rubber grommet for the 1999 CDI but not looked into mounting.  The 1999 is physically bigger than 2000 on up CDI.

The pic I posted is a 2000+ CDI.

I’ll head out to the garage in the morning and investigate further.

If you have some dense rubber sheet & some vulcanized CA glue you could easily make an isolator.

Loren, how about utilizing a coil mount?

Sorry I couldn’t get out to the garage today to tinker with mounting a 99 setup

I was thinking about something like that Joe. I have the plastic off my R and will come up with some ingenious way lol

Stock location like Joe's pic showed.  I do add a zip tie around the "holder hook bracket thing" (whatever it's called) that the rubber slips over to prevent the rubber from ever sliding off on it's own.

With the 99 Loren it is a little shorter harness than 00 and 01. Have to run it just right to reach stock mount.
