Cool note that I found inside the bag of a factory replacement 88/89 seat.

The seat in the factory bag

Ok so I knew they made OEM replacement tanks in black, but never knew they made seats in black. Are there any other differences between one that came "on the quad" versus this "after sales" seat?

The black seats were never offered on a quad. They were replacements only just like the black tanks.

Yep I got that much lol. So besides tanks & seats did Honda make any other replacement parts that were not originally-delivered colorways?

The seat was 88/89 style....foam height and seat pan style.

Ryan, this never came on a factory quad but it is a true Honda part...red seat with 88/89 height foam on a 86/87 seat pan.

Joe thanks for posting this stuff, very cool! Who knew there was an OEM part with 86/87 pan but later years' foam height. Wonder what the reason for that was, just on-hand inventory that Honda had (more left over 88-89 seat pans and not enough foam? Or if it happened in 87/88 as they transitioned to the new style foam and so that's what they threw on the 86/87 pans)? None the less, cool history!

Thanks Ryan. It sure would be cool to know how these really came about but I guess we will never know. I’ve only seen 1 other red one and maybe 10 black ones.

Here’s one for you: Fender, R, FR (fender, Right, Front) 61100-HB9-671ZA . Shown on the 1993 microfiche. The fender is black. The left front and rear fender part numbers in black are not shown (non existent).

Credit for finding this goes to a gentleman named Mr. Rich Yaslik.
