Title: BROKEN PIECE OF CASE
Post by: JOEY11 on April 19, 2021, 08:06:49 AM
I took the skid plat off my 85 to clean it since the previous owner hadn't done it often by the looks of it and while wiping it down with a paper towel I heard something metallic hit the ground. I found a piece of aluminum on the floor and looked around and found this. I recently replace this bolt a couple weeks ago and used a long extension with no ratchet to snug it up. I just JB welded the piece back in place but what could have caused it?

By chance do you have a picture of the broken piece?  I’d say at one time it was hit or maybe a too long of a bolt caused it to bust out???  I bet the previous owner might have attached the broken piece and just by luck it finally let go.

I second that. But I did have a part of my drain plug hole snap off while I was screwing it in by hand so it is more than possible that they were both just hit previously and just holding on

I didn’t take a pic of the piece before I slapped some jb weld on it. I think it was probably hit at some point and then when I tightened the bolt it finished the job.
