Interesting parts that were made for our beloved R’’s. Stumbled on these doing online searches. Anyone else have any rare and or long forgotten parts?
Please note this is not a for sale or wanted thread. This thread is for members to post parts that were once available/discontinued/forgotten. If your wanting to buy parts or sell parts please make a thread in the appropriate section. Simply put…..not here.

somewhere in my hoard of parts I have one of those linkage shifters that pivots off the swingarm bolt.
-
I have 2 Answer Roost Boost's laying around somewhere. Do those count?
-
I ran those thumb-ease for a time. I think the shifter was a Denton racing product
-
I got a couple wrist wrestlers. Probably not going to use them. I would have to modify my plastic. No way I'm doing that
-
Air box lid
-
How about companies not heard of anymore? Chozen Performance out of Medford, Oregon.
-
Nac’s 88-89 seat latch.
Joe
-
Who remembers these?
-
JL foot peg extenders
-
I rocked the foot peg extensions. Worked well
-
This one was in a parts lot but somewhere I still have the one I got for Christmas back in 1989. I remember being super excited to feel how much more power that brand new Roost Boost was going to give my R. :'(

......I have two of those shifters and they IMO are the best shifters ever made due to all the adjustments you could make...They were made and sold by Gary Denton when he had his race shop....If you ever want to sell it let me know...
-
Off the pivot bolt? This is different then the Paul Turner shifter?
-
Armadillo Off Road. Out-n-Back rack.
They also made bumpers, swing arm skid plates, six pack racks, A arms in stock width and plus 2 width (stock shock length, A arm guard for their arms and fully chassis skid plates.
-

Yes....Way different than a Paul Turner shifter....I'll try to get pictures the next time I'm on here..
-
JL foot peg extenders
JL made many custom parts. Was a great ATV company.
-
Not necessarily forgotten but definitely old school. Klemm Research
-
Extremely rare and desirable clear Fullbore fenders

Joe
Haha exactly my thought. That is wild.
-
Ah the memories. I had an Amp Link, a Answer silencer with a spring loaded valve at the outlet, and of course a roost boost.
-
Not so much forgotten but cool to see the instructions
-
The “rare” CDI that was supposedly made by Shindengen. Word has has it that hundreds were made and sold. Does anyone have one or seen one for sale?
Joe
-
I have never seen a BDT cdi, but I have a very very very very extremely rare BDT 17.5-1 pump gas dome.... BDT=POS!
-
Timmy Boy? Anyone know for sure?
Joe
-
Here’s the Houser Wristrester mentioned by Josh.
-
Dang! Looks like you'd have to cut a big hole in your hood to use that. Or run an 88-89 hood with no light in it.
-
RIS Designs. Break pedal and exhaust mounts shown. They made foot pegs also.
-
Billet rear master cylinder connector. Here’s another part that was made years ago. Not sure on the manufacturer.
Someone on social media was asking and I replied with this picture.
Joe
-
Ricky Stator flywheel
-
Graydon Proline. Trx250r grill.
-
Quad Tech carbon fiber cover for an IMS 3.6 gallon tank

RIS Designs grill
-
FMF RAM valve
-
LRD cdi
-
TC Racing Engines Powerstar head
-
I can't imagine that head design actually worked lol
-
One more on the already mentioned Houser Wristrester. One thing to note in the pic is the upper right….you remove the oem lower stem bearing and replace it with an aluminum sleeve that held a spherical bearing.
Joe
-
Ok one last thing on the Wristrester….. the shock absorber used is made by Ace Controls. I no longer have the part number but it’s easy enough to look up if you have the part in front of you to check dimensions.

Any idea what ignition setup required a stator cover spacer?
-
Last Rebel pipe that I saw a while back listed for sale on FB. I’ve never seen one before.
-
Nac’s wide stator cover.
-
Nac’s Racing stator cover spacer.
Any idea what ignition setup required a stator cover spacer?
I’m thinking it more depends on stator cover “style”.
Joe
-
Wes……..

Thanks for sharing. It sounds like a clearance issue with flywheel weights and aftermarket stator covers. I have a Steahly flywheel weight and it clears my OEM cover just fine.
-
I think this was called a torque flange. It's an oem exhaust flange with a steel sleeve pressed into it. No idea who made them:

A guy I used to ride with had the same plastic on his 88 back in 89-90 but unfortunately he went with the pink one's... Ryan, the set I have is for sale if you want to relive the old days. :)

Air box lids. An atc250r lid and once again the Trx250r lid that’s shown earlier in the thread in a Powroll package.
Quiz question. Who made these?

I have a clear one on my R now, and had a black one on a past project.
But who did the molding, I don't know...
-

Cool trivia Joe!
I didn't know of the connection between the two.
-
Fullbore clear front fender
-
They did a chrome version also.
-
I had a chrome fullbore tank cover but didn't know they did chrome fenders. You could beat people just by blinding them with those.
-
More front fender pictures
-
I have one of the fullbore 89 fronts. It is a different plastic from what they run now. Way more rigid. Looks good, but I doubt it would survive a rollover.

You can still get the afco made, but the custom order will cost ~$600 today...
-
ESR dual plug head.
-
I remember that head... do you konw what has happened to eddie? I can only guess, but I imagine there was debt involved in all the tooling and maybe it sunk him due to what seem like the tight fists of shrinking R owners...

The ESR website states that Eddie is working on casting cylinders in house. Unfortunately I’m guessing this has taken away his time from having any other parts available. Moving to another state and starting a new shop with a new machine is an expensive move. When I visited his shop his new machine was idle….issues from day one. From what I heard the “new” machine is gone and he’s going back to machine(s) he previously had. Still hoping Mr. Sanders the best in his business endeavors.

Well said Joe. I believe it is very important to support ESR. He is going through a shit storm trying to bring his products to market. I’m patiently waiting for cylinders.

Yea, the guy has been around since day 1. I remember in early 2000's when you'd call and get one of his staff. Good old days...
Speaking of good old days, not a long forgotten part, but Joe (croat), I saw this ebay listing, so I looked at some old IM's and found that you bought that nib 86 seat from me for $375, plys like $30 to ship. Seemed a litlte expensive at the time, but now seems like "the good old days" too sadly.
$1300 nib seats... in Portugal

Krank It Racing exhaust. Cool explanation of how the exhaust came about.
From Ray Zarcone:
Ok, so here's the story.. Scott and I tested 3 different pipe mfgs during the mid 90's. 1) LRD which was on all the quads we built for Vescovi, Gust and Kister. We wanted our own pipe so we worked with Arlen to design us a unique pipe that was different than what he was building for everyone else but still retained LRD's signature adjustable chamber. Then we got a hold of Ray Larez out at Graydon Proline and they built us a pipe according to our specs but was non adjustable, there was only one of these ever made, it was nickel plated and had no tags on it. Decent pipe and I have no idea where that one is today. Then finally we got a hold of Richie at Dynoport being that he was so close to us it only made sense.. We sent him all the specs based on what we were looking for, basically a TT LRD pipe and MX LRD pipe non adjustable is what we had him design with a few of Scott's tweaks here and there.. The result was the Krank It Cannon pipe and Silencer which you see above in Joshua's picture.. Not too many made and it was a great pipe that matched up well to Scott's cylinder work. So to answer your question Josh, yes that is a super rare Krank It Cannon.. It was mfg by Dynoport for Krank It made specifically for us back in '96.. Congratulations on obtaining one of these and it still appears to be in decent shape.. Krank It Racing We're Going To The Front You Coming? 😉

RK Technologies cylinder head.

I liked that RK head. I think it's a more useful design to have the extra material for the dome than the more common coolhead offers. I also liked the dome oring solution better. I got mine through Rick Kirmil (macdizzy) years ago.
I reached out to Kelsey in 2021 for a new head, but replied that he's not making it anymore, but would maybe tool up for around $6-700. His market I think is mainly snowmobiles.
Coincidentally, I have designed and am waiting for the second prototype for a head based on the RK head. A couple pics of the first.

LRD bumper, grab bar, nerfs and foot pegs.

Does anyone recognize this brake pedal?
Joe

How about a crank modification
-
Flywheel weight. Not forgotten but it’s cool to see the old school packaging. “Superfly”
-
How about a crank modification
I remember people discussing this, probably on macdizzy. Myself, I can't imagine how it would result in a more powerful combution event. Fun memories...

MMF Racing is now AC Racing.
Cool seeing the 2 versions of MMF Racing stickers.

I had a similar idea only it was getting the rubber out of the original mounts than using polyurethane to refill them. I wonder what these mounts have in them

Whatever material was used didn’t work as it shrunk thus separating from the mount.

How about the advertising for the previously mentioned Roost Boost.
-
How about a Polonda build?
-

I had a set of these. Probably still have them around somewhere. There were very nice and fit great but as you mentioned separated. Billygoat did try to resolve the issue. I think a different polyurethane and grooves inside the mounts itself would help

Who remembers these conversion kits?
-
Joe, we had an ATC to ATV conversion bike at the takeover this year. Gavin and Cooper didn’t know what it was so they called me over to see if I knew what it was. I remember seeing the kits advertised in dirt wheels back when I was a kid, but I had never seen one in person so that was cool.
