Just wondering if I should start a build thread over here even though everybody has already seen it a thousand times??? Its almost complete but it still needs a few things...
-
Shoot yea, there maybe a few members here and not there and vice versa...you know all members are pic freaks....lol
-
You gotta finish the build here so you can enter QOTM!
-
i would,everyone likes new pics.
-
Its not that nice Tony.... :)
-
I want to see some video of that saber running:D
-
post them photo freaks here
-
I will start posting some pics when I get back home from vacation.. DeafMan Chassis should have my frame done by the time I get back....

im afraid so!!
-
I don't need to see it... but if you must... go ahead... hahahahahahahahaha!!
-
im glad you decided not to do a drag bike!! you have had your feelings hurt enough here lately!!!
-
I had a real Saber that I was gonna bust your arse with!!
-
yes..... yes I have.... my saber is the village bicycle, everyone's had a ride!!!!!!!!!
-
Found out the cases are broke as well...unreal
-
^^^ do what?
-
dave dropped a bombshell on me today.... cases cracked for some unknown reason... enjoy Saber-dome....
It was the lower motor mount...
We're going to find out how good ESR cases are... LOL!
-
I've went thru 2 sets of brand new chromed OEM front motor mounts.... both cracked thru the top hole.... fun stuff!

my builder said he built a motor with ESRs new cases and everything fit like a glove!!!
-

What?! You have to be kidding me. You never even rode the thing. Where are they broke? Better yet how did they get broke?
-
Post up some pics of that work of Art Wayne! I absolutely love that bike! One of my all time favorites and I'm not a drag guy... LOL!
Polonda, its not a huge deal. The lower motor mount bolt holt cracked out on one side. Its probably fixable...
-
I will post some pics when I get back home. Hopefully by then the frame will be done and I will be able to TRY and start the beast!!
-
frame done what did you do?
-
frame done what did you do?
with the Saber cylinder and big Cutler, I couldn't get the Cutler installed.. It was hitting the cross tube where the rear shock mounts.. Since DeafMan Chassis is 10 minutes away I took it down there for them to fix.. Should be done by the time I get back home next weekend... :)
-
im gonna have to go to deafman and get this crack welded up in the Ti chassis wheres he located?
-
Located in a small town called Florence MS... Im not sure if they can weld TI???
-
welding Ti is not easy, only a select few can do it.
Will, your sig says "Temporarily", thinking of parting with the Titanium chassis ????
-
I offered him 1k and he is gonna think about it and get back with me.

^^ has jokes today I see :D

temporarily is meant to imply the fact that this motor wants to tear the frame apart anytime you hit the throttle. hence the fact that the entire weld holding the upright support from the left peg has cracked all the way around after roughly 20 passes.

DeafMan Chassis finished my frame.. He just spray painted it black for now, but it wont be noticeable once the plastics/seat are on.

Very nice looking pro I wish I could see it run in person, I love to watch the quads drag at the dunes
-
That float bowl could double as a coffe cup!!!
Nice quad!
-
Looks sweet !!!! Drag stuff can get pretty gaudy. This one is done right.
-
and everybody ask me why it took over 2 years to build it!?!?!? i took my time and built it right and bought 1 piece at a time as my money would allow it.
-
Dang, Wayne I wish my chit could look that nice..

it would if you used this stuff.....

I tried that stuff once and ended up puking all over the place. I couldn't stand the smell.. I guess I'll focus on performance rather than polishing the turd!!!
-
ouch that hurt!!! so you are saying polished motors are slower?? :)

Dang, Wayne I wish my chit could look that nice..
Is that the kettle calling the pot shiny? LMAO

I think this is my favorite 250r!

Get some heat in it yet Wayne??????

it will tomorrow if everything goes right! :)

when you crank that motor with the electric starter make sure the you have the cdi unplugged or kill switch on so it does not fire right away crank it a little like 10 revolutions or so to get some fuel in the bottom end or some times it will start lean and rev to the moon until fuel gets in the bottom end
-
No electric starter with this motor...

Just kick it 5-10 times with the ignition off to help prevent it. Also if it does run away kill the ignition, put the rear brake on, drop it in gear and dump the clutch to stop it. I usually put about a 1/2" to 3/4" of fuel in the bottom of the bowl to help start the bike and as soon as it fires turn on the alky. It acts like a choke for the colder weather and starts easier for me.
-
kicked it over a few times slowly then gave it one good kick and she came alive!!!

This was actually a debate once....as was polishing cylinders/pipe rather then leaving it in its rough state...
Vid is sweet WW

i have a question for you guys and maybe i can learn something in the process. is it not better than have the temp gauge where it exits the engine, rather than the return line from the radiator bottom ? i see nearly everyone in the banshee scene doing this also. doesnt make much sense to me but maybe im missing something here
-

Multiple choice.
A temp. gauge on the coolant line returning coolant from the radiator to the engine does what?
a. Gives the temperature of the coolant returning to the engine.
b. May give an indication of how well the radiator is working.
c. Does not really tell you what temperature the engine is running.
d. If the gauge shows a temperature change it means the sensor has coolant flowing over it.
f. It may be the most convenient location for the sensor and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
g. The 1st guy to install a sensor put it in the wrong place and everyone else copied him thinking the 1st guy knew what he was doing.
-
all of the above :excitement:
this wasnt a poke at atvfan28. just curious if i had overlooked a good reason to have the gauge located on the return line
-
I put mine where it is cause its easier to read. Plus it will read the same if i put it on the other line.Even though some people won't believe it.

It seems to me that you'd want to have 2....one exiting the motor and one exiting the radiator
Nice "junk" BTW :smoking
-
now im confused. for example how can it go in 200 and come out 200 ?

In most cases it would have to say all of the above
-

Most of the time you cannot position the temp. gauge in a location where you can look at it while moving at a high enough speed where the radiator is doing much cooling. By the time you slow down enough to where you can focus on the gauge and get a precise reading, the radiator as stopped cooling and the temperature exiting the radiator is very close to the temperature entering the radiator. The small inline glycerin filled gauges were not designed to give laboratory accuracy but to give you a ball park idea of the temperature of the coolant in the line it is monitoring.
Under average riding conditions, the temperature exiting the radiator is less than 10 degrees cooler than the temperature of the coolant entering the radiator, unless the radiator has a huge frontal area, the air speed through the radiator is very high and the ambient temperature is very cold.
-
it makes sense if the bike was stationary both temps be be about the same. seems like if it was moving however there would be more than a couple degree difference. then again ive never tried 2 gauges so ill take your word for it

This is the main reason that guys crawling around in 1st gear for more than a few minutes tend to have heating problems. Most of these radiators do not get much air threw them running below 15 mph.

Almost ready Gator Nationals in Gilbert Louisiana.
