Title: Baby Lynx Cylinder
Post by: Bsmith106 on May 10, 2023, 06:43:35 PM
Any word on the smaller cc Lynx cylinder that Dave Moore was working on? Was considering a 310 size cylinder for a woods/trail ride set up. Anyone heard if it will be available for sale anytime soon?

Last I heard was a year ago.  Nothing since.

Why was this going to be better than a Sphynx?  Was the idea that the smaller Lynx was already ported & plated out of the box?

I had the same thoughts Ryan. The sphynx is a great cylinder. I don't know that the lynx compares.

Dave was at our most recent TX4 race and I talked to him awhile about these cylinders.  I think they are in production as we speak.  There will be a limited run for a few of us Team DMR riders to test out before being offered for sale.

My understanding is the Sphinx has fairly high port durations as cast. If that fits your application it’s great. If not, it needs modification to get it to perform for a woods/Mx rider. From the little bit I have heard, it sounds like the Lynx may be a better option for woods/Mx as cast and not needing modification. I think the bigger lynx is cast with lower port timing than a sphinx? Not sure. I haven’t heard any first hand comparisons from someone that has had both.
