so long time atv/dirtbike guy, finally bit the nostalgia bullet and picked this up, looked clean, ran well and was a great deal, so experts tell me what you think, specifically i cant tell what shocks it has, but it has tag fourtrax bars, weird levers, laker plastics, aftermarket bumper and grab,
-
Welcome to org! Take the shock covers off and post a pic.

Welcome to.org and congratulations on the new R!

thankyou, so quick question, jetting=i ride at 1000-3000 feet, has fmf with spark arrestor, stock air box, with 6 1" holes in the lid and a K/N filter with outerwear, stock carb, stock cylinder that is supposedly bored .20 over, i bought it outa montana and he reported elevation at 3000-5000 and he was running a 145 main, and a 50 pilot, which from what i can tell will be lean for me, as stock was a 150 main i believe, now with the pipe and airbox mods I have bumped to a 165 main to be safe, anythoughts on if im headed in the right direction? he was also running a b9 plug and i thought a b8 was stock?

Nice looking R!

Was the quad running good at the previous owners location? Tons of factors but fattening it up is a start.
Good long read on jetting;

I’ve seen comments like:
“Too brittle and no flex” and “cracked putting them on”

awesome, thanks, ill do more digging,im hoping this quad can be a keeper for a long time, i have a nice 400ex but its a 400ex! and it was last built in 14?so eventually parts and such will be tuff to source and i have a 89 LRD LT250R which will be brand new from bottom up here in a week or two, but parts for that are much less available vs the trx-i only want to keep one quad-so im looking at what makes the most sense moving forward and price per smile-trx250r 's in my area have really jumped in price over the last 5-6 years

here are the stock bumper? and skid

Skid is from 86/87 Trx250r. The bumper is from a 400ex.
