Projects / Rebuilt in Hawaii (2012)
« on: July 08, 2017, 11:27:22 PM »
I rebuilt this R in 2012 or so. Just moving this over here for others to read. ill add in the pictures as time permits.

Aloha! here goes my rebuild. i know we are all picture whores so i took a lot of them. not quite pau yet but enjoy
the original builder of this 250R was dirtycj5. he is also a member here but lives on a different island then I (Big Island) it was posted on CL for some time.
it was sold to some guy locally on the Big Island. it was then posted FS on CL again by the new owner whom i purchased it from. i had it shipped over from the Big Island to Oahu. it was a bit beat up. Neglected to say the least and definitely not as clean and pretty as the above picture. i took care of what needed attention and took her for a few rides before she needed major help.
after a few MX events my frame was toast and a BIG band aid would not fix anything. at least i got to dust a few 450's first

Suspension and Chassis / Lower frame rail replacement
« on: March 31, 2015, 12:38:11 AM »
So I crashed. Crash sounds so bad. I didn't eat it or flip or get hurt. Little too fast, little too sideways. OK so I crashed. I did not have the bolt in my head stay. My motor tweaked and so that broke my motor mounts as well as the lower rail.
 WiFi sucks to be continued...

Chop chop! out with the old

the frame is METRIC square tube. I knew this to begin with but figured 1" square would be fine
I went with 1" tube 1/8" wall thinking the thick stuff would be good.

well I was wrong. it does matter! after cutting fresh metal and fitting it all in the correct place I installed my motor as a jig.

looks good ehh? well the motor sits too high and I couldn't figure out why until I put the old cracked rails next to the new metal. I need tube smaller then 1" seeing that we are weird in the US the closest to .867mm tube is 3/4". that will work. pictures are worth a thousand words.

so do it all again in 3/4". very close but you can see that 3/4" is just shy. I shimmed the new rail up so the motor mount would sit on it.

all jigged up and ready to burn.

Suspension and Chassis / mystery arms shock length
« on: February 24, 2015, 11:03:39 AM »
I have these odd arms. Mystery brand. No clue who made them and when I asked no one else knew.
16" shock are way to short. My question is,
How do I measure for shock length?

MX / Hawaii mx
« on: February 09, 2015, 05:51:07 PM »
So this is where I ride. The track uses the natural terrain of the land. The track in the video is the big MX track. There are also other designated tracks so kids, quads, and a small oval.

Trail are nearly endless. All levels of riding skills are welcome 1st time novice to experts. The perimeter trail is very popular.

Wanted / WTB no good quadzilla cylinder
« on: April 09, 2014, 10:25:07 PM »
I'm looking for a quadZilla cylinder that is no good for experimental purposes. Any year will be fine. No bores left, broken ears,  cracked sleeves, all are great candidates! This cylinder will possibly be cut in half. I am working with a machinest to check the porosity and strength of the Suzuki aluminum.

Please pm me!

Suspension and Chassis / Steel sprocket hub
« on: March 18, 2014, 11:55:55 AM »
What company makes steel sprocket hubs? Durablue is one I know for sure. LoneStar I have only seen aluminum with a steel insert. Does RPM make one? Down side to Durablue is I'll also have to run a durablue Axel.
