Hey everybody I'm looking for some suspension advice for my 85 ATC250R with 86 rear components (shock, swingarm, linkage). I had the shock re-sprung locally for my weight but didn't have the valving touched and I was never really impressed with its performance. I race the trike a couple times a year on a very rocky, wooded XC track. I was thinking of going to a 450R rear setup, but started adding up components and the cost was around 3K the way I wanted to do it so I figured I'd see about giving the stock shock and linkage one last chance and ship it out to someone that can really make it work for me. The shock has leaked it's oil out again, (and so has the Elka on my TRX, why do they always lose their oil in the winter? lol) so I figured it's a good time to ship it out.

What can be done to really make these stock shocks perform?
I personally think it could use around an inch more of down travel, can the shock be lengthened?
Can a tender spring be added on top of the main spring to make a dual rate setup?
Internal valving changes, Gold valve kit, etc?

And finally who would be the best to send it off to? The first that popped into my head would be MaulTech or GT Thunder but if there are any other good ones let me know!

Thanks!

Gt thunder did my stocker for $220   I am very happy with it but it is definitely not a high dollar aftermarket shock
