What is done to the engine?

What pipe are you running?

I bought it from a guy in Bakersfield who used it as a drag bike. It has a big bore kit.(almost 400 he said) high compression head, trx 5 pipe with a silencer. That's all I know unless take the motor apart.

Will a reed spacer help?.........
Help the engine produce more power?

Does it have a conventional reed block or a V force or ESR twin V type reed?

Just a conventional reed box with no spacer.

A reed spacer will probably help the power a little. The tip of the reed comes close enough on the big bore to the piston that the top petals of the reed cannot flow well.

Oh, ok.thax. The second bike I have has a 310 kit with a 3/4 spacer & boysen reeds. It's fast but can't beat the other one.

I do not think that putting a 3/4" reed spacer and Boysen reeds on your 400 is going to improve the power enough to smoke the 310 bike. You have one or more components that are incompatible with the components that make up your 400 engine package. The most common components that are miss-matched are the porting and exhaust system.
