« on: July 27, 2013, 12:19:58 PM »
my current carb is not functioning correctly so im gonna try a 38mm airstryker.

i have s +4 stroke mild port stock jug at 66.75mm bore.  14.25 compression ration on 110 octane.  rad valve, uni filter without lid (outerwears cover) ESR trx-6 pipe and silencer.  ride trails and do some hillclimbs and im located in the northeast, in southwestern  PA.  i do not have the airstryker yet but would like to know how you guys have yours set or recommendations you have.

thank you for any help,

john

52 pilot, dgh second clip, 180 main.  Pilot and needle should be close.  Main will probably be fat but safe.  Work your way down from there.  Obviously all motors vary so this is just my recommendation.

Just curious, what carb are you currently running on it?

When you buy new, the carb will have like a 60 pilot in there. My first carb I put on ran like buaa! Kept fouling plugs. Put the 52 pilot in and been happy for many years. I have gotton 6 new carbs since then. 1 for every R. First thing I do is put in the 52.

i might need to add some length to the big end of the carb to meet the intake tube.  who makes a carb-intake adapter?

Just curious, what's your setup? Should fit together like a glove.  ESR also makes a sleeve they can press onto the front or maybe back of the carb, it's pretty slick. Check out Troy's carb he is selling for an idea of what I'm talking about.

its a 38 mm lectron, boyesen rad valve. here is a couple pics:

well, a 48 pilot wont let it idle so im going to try a 42 pilot.  sound ok?

also, has a 170 main, DDJ needle and if i remember correctly a #7 slide.

thanks for your input.

so where are you at now with your pilot and air screw setting?
Anyone looking for a great builder I highly recommend the following.
For CP products dealers I would recommend:
Arlan at LED(site sponsor), Pete Schemberger at Hybrid Engineering, Mat Shearer at Shearer Custom Pipes, Dennis Packard at Packard Racing, and Nate McCoy of McCoys Peformance.

Other great builders I also would recommend: Neil Prichard, Jerry Hall, Bubba Ramsey and James Dodge.

i tried a 42 pilot and still wouldnt idle.  the moved the air screw in and out without a change.  just for s&g i even took the air screw out and tried to start it, and nothing.

i did a leakdown test and it help 6psi for 30 minutes or so before it started to drop a lil pressure.  following the leak test i put on the old leaky lectron and it started on first kick and idled perfectly.
