88 fight red plastic gone forever?????

I'm just trying to find the best match to factory fighter red in color full fenders and smooth hood with vent available  new.i know on my 1988 cr 500 fighter red and the UFO plastic is shit in color and the VMX plastic was as close as factory and quality is awesome but I paid big money for it.And they don't make quad plastic.I work for honda of America and at cost the factory front and rear was 450 in 1993 and the factory hood was 60.it sucks we can't get it anymore and I have to buy aftermarket for more money if I can find it.

DISCONTUNUED.  one word that is enough to make a grown man cry lol.  yes very unfortunate that R parts are discontinued. Parts are out there but countless hours is needed to search and make contacts.  I've seen oem NOS reds listed for as much as 3K.  whites up to 2500.  too pricey to be used for anything buy a garage queen.  So, what do we do for an alternative? Lakers is no longer producing fenders.  Fullbore Innovations is but its hit and miss if you can actually get them.  Maiers is the only source currently that has a supply of Red fenders that are a close match to the original oem red.

Does anyone know where the original honda fender molds are located and if they are still in existence and weren't destroyed?  I know at one point there were rumors that they were still around in Japan somewhere but broken. I'm very familiar with plastic injection molding and the only way you could make oem plastic and half justify it to keep cost down is get those original molds over here and hope there wouldn't be much repair.  Then hope that if you actually took this on, people would actually buy them because small runs would cost 1.5 times more than they did through honda

Hey Joe.....Aren't those FullBores ? When did Maier start putting the re-enforcing ridges in the fenders like Fullbore did ?  They sure do look GREAT!!! :D Glad they're still available.....wish HONDA would have moved the Original MOLDS from JAPAN to the USA and continue production out of the North Carolina Plant....they would have made good money on them....;)

Langbolt, those are full fender front maiers that I cut with a vented hood joining them together. Only reason I know is because that was my Laeger from a couple years ago. They are now on my newer Laeger and have held up great.

So does anyone have a smooth fighter red hood that they would part with in new condition.Hey Joe you start that thread up again ill take two fighter red hoods and if we can't get enough interest I'll buy five. And sell some on ebay.Working for honda for 26 years I've been to japan few times  and toured some of are sister plants I've seen atv injection molds and they are massive forget that plan.

Langbolt. john I'm not sure when Maier redesigned the rear fenders with the supports.  One notable difference  is that Maier has 3 support ridges and Fullbore has 4.

There is a guy on ebay, ZMP Performance I think, that still sells TRX 250R fenders in Fighting Red.  I think Maier does special runs for him.

Zm performance is a good guy and a good dealer.I've bought a few sets from him and he seems to have the lowest prices with free shipping.he also stocks maiers w minor blemishes for very good prices.these blemishes amount to about a days worth of riding..
