Or you could use a 250r swingarm? Not understanding why going through all this trouble with 450r components is worth it?

i got to get back to my bike and do some more work. today I mounted another tire to one of my OMF wheels I now have the front ones assembled. back to the drawing board on my swing arm. sprocket alignment with the 450 swing arm using the 450 axle is not going to work. I pulled the axle out and put in an 87 250r axle. using the 450 components locking nut brake stay rotor and caliper it all fits. the sprocket alignment is out 1/8 of an inch easy fix with a machined spacer onto the axle. only problem is I would have to purchase a new one as my 87 axle is not pretty. i'm trying to save my 450 axle as I have chromed it and also chromed my wheel hubs. so I removed the sprocket hub off the 87 250r axle to see if it will fit onto the 450 axle. the splines are the same as well as the diameter. the only thing that is different is the 450 axle has a shoulder stop near the bearing race. so the 250r sprocket hub needs to be machined a little on the inner part of the I.D. also the splines are longer on the 250 than on the 450 this is the same area that is going to be machined. the 450 splines are about 1 inch the 250r is about 1 1/4. they are matching on the axles as well so during installation you can push back a little to remove the spring clip. I brought the sprocket hub down to the machine shop to be modified for me. should have it next week.

sell the 450 stuff and get 250r stuff.

yeah I see all the extra work believe me. I am by no means am comparing myself to any other person out there. if I found a way to make this work and it was an option for others then that's awesome. if its only for me then that's what I set out to do. before there were after market frames any one who first came out with the idea was scoffed at. not comparing but just pointing out that even these early thoughts to build there own frames were laughed at. but it was for them its what they wanted. I would not recommend any one to try much of this its frustrating and costly. To me its a challenge to see if I can get past the next problem.

It just needs to be aligned fairly well or you get chain derailment and damaged cases.  nobody want that.

"O"ring or non is up to you. There are different opinions on which is better. If you plan on doing much riding I would suggest buying a top quality chain. Stay away from the super cheap chains on Ebay

just got my pipe today from LED. what I am doing is I had arlen weld 2 small round 1/2 inch threaded  blocks. they are exactly where he normaly would weld his led plate onto the pipe. I am having rob wicked metal designs make me a led emblem/ plate that will mount ont this it will sit up 1/2 inch off the pipe and it will be ceramic coated black.

Also I'd personally go with a did oring chain. I've ran non oring chains before and they make alot more noise, and creak & pop all the time after awhile. Just my two cents

talk about a slow build. just ordered my brake lines directly from stream line. waiting on my custom rear grab bar and some honda and 250r emblems I had custom made through rob. wicks at wicked metal designs. seams there's always a lot goin on. no time to tinker with my bike. to finish I still need a chain some custom stainless washers for my omf wheels. need to get my seat done some graphics applied I already have them radiator hoses. a few chromed items still need to be sent out. lost some oil from the rear shock by repositioning the line. it leaked out when I loosened it up to much. going to have to send it out for service. carb needs to be sent out for polishing. I sent my ccp puck style steering dampener out to be polished I have to assemble it as well. there's not a lot but for me i can't find the time and money is tight now. about a month ago i did get some other parts back from the polisher. I have what 7 years into this now. so what's another 4 months 8 months 1 year. it has to be right the way I see it
