Panthera 550??
« on: November 19, 2020, 06:02:15 PM »
I been out of the scene for a while so I am just getting up too speed with all of the new stuff out. My question is, does anyone here have any real world feedback on the Panthera 550 motor?? I did the whole CR500 motor in a 250r frame with leftover stock parts  back in the late 90's. It was awesome to ride for like 5 mins till parts would start falling off and your arms would be numb from the vibration. The thing would throw one hell of a roost though. It only took me one time of riding it to know it wasnt worth putting anymore time and money into it.  The Panthera motor in a 450r definitely has my interest very peaked though.

Does the Panthera have a counter balancer in the engine cases?  ..........if not it will also shake any chassis it is put into other than a motorcycle chassis, into pieces.

Arlan at LED still has it. Had a new pipe made and some engine mods. said to be putting out 80HP at the wheels on Arlans dyno. Arlan said he could put out more but space is limiting the pipe size.

Josh nailed it with the latest info on Rogers. I also heard Arlan was having issues kicking it with the compression it has.   @marc, From what I hear, they are a nice engine, but don't expect claimed power numbers, and  the pipe that comes with them is mediocre at best.

thank you, exact type of info I was looking for. So the 100hp claims are not accurate? And it sounds like the electric start option is a no brainer? Anything yet on how it bolted in and hooked up to the 450r components? Did Rogers have to send it too Arlan because it wasnt running right or was he looking for more power?

Roger’s has a dean Sundahl front end so it had to have a custom pipe to clear the shocks and A-arms.  I could post pics from FB if you’d like. There’s some on LEDs page.

Maybe pantera got 100 at the crank on a built motor. *Maybe
Have to consider also that they are trying to sell something

I'd say 100hp is easily obtainable with one, just with modifications.  It also might not be practical at 100hp for your riding style.  A torquey 80 HP is going to be interesting to see none the less.
