Good idea Joe. I just picked up a set of these same tires on oem silver wheels but the paddles are around 60%. Cutting them like this would help get some more life out of them.

I still have a new set of these tires in the garage for anyone who ends up wanting to cut on a set.

I would still think these would be heavier than Sand Skate II's that are even rough buff, let alone Bead to Bead buff.  What would the advantage of these be then?  Just a little more strength for big hits & landings?

Another advantage would be more tire life. Paddles wore down? Just "lower" the carcass.

My boy has been riding the dunes with a set of sand stars. He loves them. I tried to get him to use a set of haulers. They have decent hook for what they are.

I really don’t see how this phrase can be used in conjunction with 250R’s lol

Good to know, I have just wrote off molded paddles for 15+ years but maybe I should consider them a bit more.

I always felt the same way about molded paddles until 5 years ago when I tried skate 2's for the first time. I like those tires alot now... My previous experience with molded tires was the 22x12x8 Cheng Shin dune hoppers I ran on my R back in the late 80's & those suck.

It's been so long since I've been on V paddles, I should probably take some for a test drive this season.

somewhere over the years, I got it in my head that Sand Stars suck for 2 strokes and where about the worst tire you could use.   Of course I usually use those old cheap V paddles from Cheng Shin
Bunch of race quads that run on premix
