Beadlock wheels
« on: March 05, 2021, 07:27:34 PM »
I'm contemplating getting a set of beadlock wheels for my R. It is a dune machine exclusively so I really don't need them. I do like the look however. I have  been thinking about OMF and HiPer wheels. So I ask you guys to post pictures of your beadlocks and tell me what you like about them.
Thanks Loren

I’m a big fan of  Douglas shamrocks and the Douglas ultimate centers.  I love the old school stuff.  Unfortunately neither are made anymore.  If you find a new set somewhere they are selling for around $1000 new for the set (and that’s most likely the “friends” price).

Not the ideal dune setup up but they sure look cool.  Here’s mine:

My next set of wheels will be OMF.  Loren, same as you I like the look.  I talked to OMF not too long ago.  I was inquiring about a set (or 2).  I didn’t proceed with the purchase because their orders for wheels were very backed up.  The issue was the availability of DWT wheels.  Everything was on back order.  I highly doubt if you ordered today that you’d get them anytime soon.

Those wheels on the R are exactly what I want! I dig the shamrocks for sure, but like you said they are nearly unattainable

I’ve got hipers and an old set of champions.  I like the hipers because the black will always stay black.  The thread inserts scare me a bit though.  Worried they’ll strip out eventually.  A cheaper option is the Alba beadlocks.  Seem to be decent quality.

The trouble with Hipers is they aren't making 8x8 wheels anymore. So I would have to try and find some new floating around or buy used. I would worry about the threaded inserts on used wheels. I really like the OMF's because you can get them in a two tone (for lack of a better term). I would go with black hub/polished center/black ring. Now if I can sneak them in without the wife knowing!

Cooper said he needs the gold wheels on his R. He says it's the gold that makes it fast!

Here's another option & there available in 8x8 & of course black just for you: https://www.ebay.com/itm/DWT-G3-Blue-Rear-Beadlock-Wheels-Rims-8-8x8-3-5-4-110-Honda-Suzuki-450R-LTR450/361440390939?epid=2192805469&hash=item542786af1b:g:jNYAAOxyXp5STgDf

That seller is ATV Galaxy.  I’m pretty sure they drop ship almost everything they sell.  I’d call first before placing an order.
