oem front fender bolts

Croats post about the oil cap reminded me of something.  Didnt the original OEM front fender to frame bolts have the adapter collar integral to the bolt and it couldnt be removed?
now the parts fische just has a seperate collar and bolt.

Good question… I’ll look and report back.

Kevin, what’s the Oregon “R” have on it?

Joe, the Oregon R has the separate bolt & collar & I think my wife's 86 has the same one's, thats the upper M8 bolts. atvmxr could you be thinking of the lower M6 bolts that go from the fender to the brace as having the built in collar because those do.

Nope, mine had race cut fenders. Only used the upper frame bolt.  If no one remembers, I guess it doesn’t really matter anyway.

I've only known of the Separate bolt and collar for the upper Fender to frame bolt....I did however post a Part# for a replacement that was a bolt with the collar integrated into it.....I believe it was from the CRF450R and it works great!

On another note related to OEM hardware I was getting part numbers together for all the engine case & side cover bolts & all the part numbers I looked up ended in 00 for the 86, for example one of the number's is 96001-06032-00. All the part numbers are the same except for the last 3 numbers in the 2nd part which indicates the length of the bolt as in 06032 for 32mm, 06040 for 40mm etc. I looked some up on ebay & found some of the same part numbers of bolts but the last part of the numbers were 02 instead of 00 & the one's ending in 02 were black while the one's ending in 00 were clear zinc so I was wondering if someone can confirm that oem bolt part numbers ending in 02 are all black & 00 are all clear zinc?

Just looked up 88-89 case bolts & see they end in 07 & there black zinc so the last 2 numbers must depict the finish color. Also looked up some bolts ending in 02 & they look more like a black painted finish.

I remember years ago when a friend of mine worked at a Honda Dealer in the Parts dept.....he had a MASTER parts number book....it was huge!!! and there were a few pages that described what each digit of the part number represented.....he used it to find alternatives to discontinued parts.....man I wish I had a copy of that book! It was like a Honda BIBLE!!! Maybe some old Honda dealers may still have them ? ;)
