Duner / Re: Three Wheeler Meetup 2024 Florence, Oregon
« on: April 30, 2024, 07:31:56 PM »
someday........  need to take like a month off, hit up killpecker, st anthony on the way to oregon.  Spend about 7-10 days exploring OR dunes, and then hit up glamis, sand mountain, cinders, etc. on the way back.

Florence is right at 2500 miles one way from my house.

I've never ridden at sand mountain but we have friends that live in Sparks NV & he took me by sand mountain to check it out. I was shocked at how small it was. It's literally just a big sand hill in the middle of the desert, imo not worth the trip to spend half hour riding than getting bored. However there is a lot of cool places to ride in the desert around that area... If you make it to Oregon let me know, there's a few of us here in Oregon/Washington that would gladly join you

I’d say Honda got it right with the oem shrouds, lower splash guard and the front snorkel (86/87).

I think black oem shrouds look the best on R's. I like running the splash guards but when you put a puck stabilizer on them like a CCP you have to remove the splash guard unfortunately.

Holy cow I just saw the pic of that ATC fender tank thing. I bet it carries enough fuel to double the weight of the trike, that would be a suspension tuning nightmare!

Another option for honing your mc is to cut a notch in a piece of 1/4" bar stock with a hacksaw than tear off a piece of fine emery cloth, fold in half & slip it into the notch you cut in the bar stock. Chuck it up in your favorite drill & you have a home made small cylinder hone.

I remember all those things too. My 1983 daily driver has similar heater controls & the exact same 2 keys. I have some good memories of taking those cap gun rolls & smashing them with my dad's engineer hammer so they'd all go off at once, that made a big bang.

The bvc kit is just a copy of Pumashine's gusset kit & the bvc kit costs twice as much. Pumashine gusset kit all the way

The Mad Scientist / 86 oem headlight & anti-vibe stem
« on: January 09, 2024, 03:03:14 AM »
Awhile back I got a nice anti-vibe stem from Loren but wanted to retain the use of the stock headlight. As we know anti-vibe's don't have provisions for this so I remembered a thread on the other site where a guy started the same thing but never finished, or at least never made a follow up post. Going off what he started, to make a headlight mount you just need to cut the top off an 86-87 oem stem & grind it down on the inside enough to clear the top tube of the stem. For the first one I did I had an LSR 7/8" U shaped clamp that the headlight mount fit between just perfect when it was turned around backwards & it took minimal grinding on the bottom to clear the rear tabs on the headlight mount. I just did a 2nd one using an Alba 7/8" clamp. Here's some pics of the machining I had to do to get the headlight mount to work with the Alba clamp for those of you that want to do this same or a similar mod:

Exhaust hangers from Billygoat.  These were a 2 piece design that was welded internally. The internal dampening material was then poured.

I had a similar idea only it was getting the rubber out of the original mounts than using polyurethane to refill them. I wonder what these mounts have in them

Welcome to the forum & the 250R world. It's always cool to see the younger folks getting into badass old machines & keeping them alive. Once you get it done & ride it for the first time you'll be hooked like the rest of us.

i get the feeling that once impounded, they destroy them.  Dont bother to check vins if stolen and try to get them back to rightful owner.  Wasnt there a video going around of New York or some big city, running a bulldozer over impounded bikes and quads a couple years ago?

I don't want to remember the video your talking about but I do.
