Wanted / Swingarm wanted
« on: January 15, 2023, 01:24:25 PM »
Howdy friends,  I'm on the hunt for a 86/87 swingarm.  I would prefer oem, but would also consider aftermarket.

P.S.
I'm looking for something economical so nothing exotic or expensive lol.
Thanks

Suspension and Chassis / Works shocks
« on: July 11, 2022, 08:56:48 PM »
The other day Kevin told me about some R parts not far from me and I was able to get there quickly and get some good stuff. A lonestar swingarm (with carrier, brake rotor, and axle) works non rezi front shocks, oem thumb throttle, oem steering stem with Lsr bar clamp all for $180.
Anyway I am wondering if I can have reservoirs added to the shocks when I get them rebuilt? If anyone has some insight please hit me up.
Thanks
Loren

The Mad Scientist / 1999 CR250 carburetor
« on: June 16, 2022, 10:15:12 PM »
So I recently bid on and won a keihin 38mm carburetor off a 1999 CR250. This is the second time I nabbed one of these carb's for around $100 shipped to me. The first one was pretty dirty so Cooper and I pulled it apart and scrubbed it clean. We then swapped the needle, slide, and jets to what I thought was a good starting point for his fresh engine. We did a bit of tuning and got it dialed.
So I was eager to try to get another one and do a cleanup and rebuild with my other son Gavin. I was patient and found the deal I was looking for. I was surprised to see some kind of swirl pattern in the inlet end of the carburetor. I did not see them when it was on ebay.
I wonder if anyone else has seen this pattern. The add did not advertise this carburetor as modified. I'm going to say that this was either an aftermarket job or possibly something keihin tried. Look at the pictures and let me know what you think.
FYI going this route can save you some money....
Thanks Loren.

Lounge / New tool Tuesday!
« on: April 12, 2022, 09:19:38 PM »
My boss decided to reward me for being a quality worker with a milwaukee 1" battery impact. I just hit the one year mark at this new job and have put in a ton of hours. It seems that they appreciate the hard work. This 1" impact looks good alongside the other milwaukee tools the company bought me.

Carburetor, Intake, and Exhaust / Paul Turner TRX RACE
« on: March 02, 2022, 08:46:37 PM »
So I have a few Paul Turner pipes in my heap of 250r treasures, but have never ran one. I have 2 that say TRX RACE and one that is a HI-REV. I know that the hi rev is a light switch pipe but I do not know anything about these RACE pipes other than they are probably for MX.
Is there a difference between the 89 RACE and a plain old TRX RACE? Where do they have power and where do lack power (bottom/mid/top)?
Any experience and information you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Howdy fellas, I am looking for a pipe for my 85 atc250r project. It will have a ported stock cylinder so no need for a big bore pipe yet. Let me know what you have that you would part with.

Body and Controls / Hydraulic Clutch options
« on: August 25, 2021, 08:28:41 AM »
Hey fellas,  I am trying to alleviate some hand/wrist issues that I have been having. I am looking to do something about the extremely stiff clutch pull on my 391. I know some of the stiffness is from the worn out clutch perch adjuster. I am thinking it may be time for a hydraulic clutch. I really only find a Magura listed for a 250r.  Are there any other hydraulic clutches out there?
Let me know what you have for ideas.

Body and Controls / Another throttle post......
« on: July 26, 2021, 11:17:23 PM »
Evening friends,  while riding this weekend I learned that I possibly have carpol tunnel. My right hand and wrist started to ache after about 20 minutes of riding. Then my wrist started to swell! A good friend that was with us went through similar issues and had to have surgery.
So before I go down that rabbit hole I want to try a different throttle.  I am leaning toward a twist throttle, but am not sure yet.
I have a motion pro and a magura twist throttle already, but do not have the cables to go with.
So my first question is,  what motion pro cable do I need to run either of those ?

My second question is, who has tried the moose dual gasser throttle?
Pro and cons???

Last question,  will the urmosi throttle do anything to help me with the hand pain?

Please throw out any of your thoughts! I need to have this figured out by the trx250r takeover!

Thanks Loren

Suspension and Chassis / Oval swingarm chain slider
« on: June 29, 2021, 07:52:46 PM »
Howdy everyone,  I recently picked up a used Ace fabrication +4 swingarm and I need a chain slider for it. Does anyone know what slider works best for an oval tube? I know TMDesignworks offers a slider for aftermarket swingarms, but it seems to work best with rectangle tube. Let me know!
Thanks Loren

P.S.
If I can't find one for an oval tube I am going to modify the swingarm to accommodate a slider meant for a rectangle tube swingarm.....
