Engine and Bottom End / Re: ESR 363 package deal
« on: June 16, 2017, 09:23:57 AM »
After receiving 2 of Eddies 363 +4mil cylinders kits, I shipped them both to Arlan at LED for him to work his magic. My son and I are excited to bolt these up. Eddie is one of the few guys left in our industry that is still bringing innovative products at a reasonable cost. Please patronize ESR whenever you need parts for your "R".  :)

Duner / Silver Lake meet up 2016
« on: June 24, 2016, 12:42:01 AM »
Corey, Joe, and myself had a great time meeting up with everyone. Great bunch of people. Hope to meet up again next year. Joe came as a guest of my son. He has been dreaming of getting a 250R himself some day.

I have ran a 38 Keihin A/S on both my sons 250R and also on my 330R for quite a few years and have always been satisfied with that carb. Over the past couple of years a friend of mine suggested I try his Mikuni 38 TMX carb. Finally I decided to give it a try. It did take a little bit to get it dialed in but I found the TMX Mikuni did help with a better low end power with my particular setup. I ended up recently switching to the 2001 CR 250 Mikuni TMX and just love it. I have always taken notes on the jetting of both our quads with the Keihin for all 4 seasons of the year that we have here in Wisconsin.  If you do decide on the Mikuni carb, the one to get according to Eddie Sanders is the 2001 CR 250 one directly from Honda.  The part number for that carb is... 16100-KZ3-L12. It comes with a 420 main and a 35 pilot both of what were rich in my ESR 330. The needle 676BBH173 was spot on in the center clip position. Regardless of whether you choose the Keihin or the Mikuni take the time to keep notes on your jetting until it becomes second nature.

Engine and Bottom End / Octane Boosters
« on: April 29, 2016, 11:09:37 AM »
So Skeans1 what you are saying that all octane boosters are a scam? I can't believe everyone that makes an octane booster is scamming people with there products. Eddie Sanders and I both came to the conclusion that maybe its time to start considering using non race fuels with a reputable octane booster. We just have not had experience with using one. My son and I both have 88 R's with the 4 gallon fuel tank and we regularly do a 60-85 mile cross country trail rides with our R's and race gas is not an option. I guess what I am asking is anyone out there running compression much over 180 lbs with 91-93 octane pump gas and an octane booster?

Engine and Bottom End / Octane Boosters

Hi guys...with the high cost and limited availability of race fuels in my area I have been thinking about maybe using an octane booster.  Eddie Sanders and I were just talking about this on Tuesday and I was mentioning Lucas oils makes a octane booster that has many good reviews on their website. Lucas Oils has been around a long time and they seem to be on the forefront with their products. Wondering if anybody has used any specific brand octane booster and what are your thoughts.

« on: March 07, 2016, 04:24:16 PM »
Good afternoon guys. I remember several months ago a thread came up about a 250R meet up at Silver Lake Michigan. My apologies but can seems to find it. Does anyone know the dates this summer 2016 of the meet up?

Thank you,
Gary & Corey

Suspension and Chassis / Best Bearing/seal kit brand???
« on: February 15, 2016, 09:38:36 AM »
I recently freshened up 2 bottom ends and ended up going with a couple of Boss Bearing kits. Several of the bearings were stamped with "Japan" on them which tells me more than likely the same as OEM. I could not justify spending a $100+ more on basically what seemed like the same bearings.

Engine and Bottom End / How much piston clearance to run on a ESR 330?
« on: January 15, 2016, 08:38:22 PM »
If your cases are bored yes a 330 goes to 77.5. If they are not and you are running a direct bolt on 76.5 bore is as big as you can go I am told.

Hey Guys,

What kind if piston clearance would you all suggest on a 76.5mm Wiesco piston in a newer ESR PV 330 cylinder. I am planning on having the cylinder nikasil plated since I will be on my last bore of the cylinder. I have heard anything from .0025 (seems too tight to me) and.00525 and that seems too loose.

I would appreciated any and all input.

Lounge / Places to ride in wisconsin/MN/U.P. of Mchigan

I know the trail systems in N.E. Wisconsin pretty well, as we have been riding them for nearly 20 years. We run the trails in spring /early summer then again late summer into fall. We have a group of about 15 guys. My son and I and 5 other guys run 250R's. Right now we are gearing up for our winter ice riding. We usually do Silver lake MI dunes for a week in the summer months.
