Wanted / Re: Wtb shift shaft

All good. Arlan at LED refurbishes old ones, bent or stripped splines. Give him a call if you need one, awesome guy to talk to.

Need a nice clean shift shaft. I already have a bent one and another one with stripped splines. Thanks for looking.

Carburetor, Intake, and Exhaust / Pro-x vs Sphinx jetting
« on: July 10, 2016, 12:52:22 AM »
DEL installed. Had to give local shop owner sudco part number to find it. Thanks again Jerry for your time clarifying temps for jetting. Now for part 2 of the question,  will different porting(mx vs dune eg.) or cylinder(ESR vs Sphinx eg.) of same displacement have pretty close jetting assuming other variables are same(carb, pipe and builder etc.) Just curious.

Carburetor, Intake, and Exhaust / Pro-x vs Sphinx jetting

Thanks to make it so simple Jerry. Makes more sense now. Only reason I have  CEL and not  a DEL is availability. I have to order and has to cross the border to Canada. Plus my local shops can't figure out what DEL means so when I will order from Sudco more jets, I will buy a few more needle just to make shipping worth it. Asking keihin jets and they look at me like I have a nipple on my forehead. If it doesn't have valves and 2 wheels, or minimum 2 seats, not worth it.
My plug reads a bit on rich side and my temps are 180 when cruising 4 or 5. 3 gears in tighter stuff it flirts with 210 the highest I seen it on ESR gauge. Seems to be fairly close to my infrared temp meter I have for work so cant be that far off.
Thanks again Jerry for your wisdom

Carburetor, Intake, and Exhaust / Pro-x vs Sphinx jetting

I have a 344 Sphinx ported by Arlan at LED(mx low port).I have his hand coned big bore pipe and muffler (built 2015) and intake,  He suggested/recommended me 48 pilot, 178 main with  a DEL 3rd or 4th clip at 2000-2500" elevation as I run a 38mm A/S. Now, I know a few guys that have similar set up with pro-x/ESR type cylinders and bigger carbs recommend way richer jetting, and tried but seems more sluggish and plug looks rich. I feel like I could lean it more, but dont feel like burning a piston to learn just to go with my gut, I'm not that stupid lol.
What I have I  here right now is 178main, 48 pilot with CEL 3rd clip. I'm happy how it runs, just deceivingly fast. Just want feedback by guys who really knows engine dynamics,  I don't feel like bothering Arlan. Busy guy and too much respect, as I know how it is to stop what you do to answer 1001 questions, which some of them might be deemed as stupid.
So basically my question is better flow smaller jets makes sense?(sphinx vs pro-x) Stronger intake signal also equate smaller jet(38mm carb vs 41.5mm)
Sorry for the essay but read so much this is how I see it. Just want to be corected if I am wrong, too much money in this to just have it blow up on me.

Projects / My LSR duner build
« on: May 16, 2016, 03:04:31 AM »
Not bad...no foam correct? I like to have pretty close guestimates to calculate my budget so I can't blow it by 5gs lol. One of these days I will have to take pictures of mine and make a thread or something. Had a fair share of fabbing and headaches, plus now we have an OHV ban across the province so can fine tune stuff....  not as nice as most here but my pride and joy.

Engine and Bottom End / CP vs Pro X cylinders?
« on: May 13, 2016, 11:38:46 PM »
That would be the ticket IMO, with a custom pipe to match it all. I have the LED pipe and intake, and its disappointingly fast and smooth, no crazy powerband hit just acceleration. Then again, its a low port mx style port job I have. Im more of a mid to top end hit kinda guy but im happy with it, for what i paid for hehe. Im just waiting on OHV ban to lift to tinker more on jets and I should be able to smoke buddies ported ktm 380 dirt bike.

Body and Controls / Polishing plastic
« on: May 13, 2016, 11:29:03 PM »
Oem plastic wont polish as easy as the tank. Practiced on the tank on told myself this was childs play....... wrong! Mind you my plastics are quite cracked and im pretty fussy but I will get them as nice or nicer than OEM. They do polish nice if you dont need to sand, but fukk me, started with 280 all the way to 1500 now and still not happy enough to hit with buffer. Should have painted my Maiers with lots of flex in clear, pretty sure would have held. Did a bunch of summit and mxz hood that you can bend anyway you want they dont break and paint followed without cracking, just the paint took about a full day to be tack free and almost a work week to be handle ready. Also, the bend test was done years after some ofnthe hoods I did as I has to offer lifetime warranty through the paint company(BASF).

Engine and Bottom End / CP vs Pro X cylinders?
« on: May 13, 2016, 11:20:10 PM »
If I didnt find that deal on the sphinx 350 I have now, Arlan would have built me a esr 363...still trying to tune it crisp but safe, but it is so smooth and quick, you cruise top of 5th in the trails in no time and dont realize you are going that fast so quick you change gears and smooth power...can only imagine with +4stroke how light the front would be. But Arlan was my builder, or the builder of my engine I should say. Before I bought that engine I talked to him about options and he was adamant on ESRs quality. To each there own, if you want pro x the price difference is closer to have the best  cylinder. Talk to Pete(?)  and he will guide you for sure, only heard good review from them.

Wanted / lower frame chain slider and case saver
« on: March 31, 2016, 11:21:33 PM »
Ordered today from splash n dirt. Whole order was less than UPP case saver on fleebay. Thanks Langbolt. I bet you are in heaven. Grew up on an old farm so had about 600 acres of land. Now in Alberta the town im in I can ride from my shop to nice sandyish trails or from my inlaws to decent trails when its dry enough. Could do it from my place too but dont want to piss off neighbors.

Might wait see whos is president. Trump said he would buy BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan to make that pipeline happen lol. Gotta laugh it off I guess. But sucks to get ripped off for shipping this way. I paid 175$ to have a complete engine and another box with intake and exhaust and everything in between, and a box or package smaller than my fist is 35$? Come on.....

I agree to both of you. Shitty part is, those arent available in Canada. UPP wont sell directly to me or my local dealer. Fleebay sellers I find charge as much as the part is worth in shipping. So my options are slim if I dont want to overpay to satisfy sellers greed. Moose racing isn't available to us either. Unless one of you agrees to buy them and sell them to me would be my only option. PayPal ready lol.
