Chris Grissom bored it, measured the port timing to make sure it would work, reshaped the head and assembled the top end.

Carburetor, Intake, and Exhaust / 200 jet?

Stock ignition, 19cc cool head (engine builder reshaped the insert a bit to get squish right), 175psi on my gauge, holds 7 psi forever on a pressure test, air box lid off. Runs and pulls hard through 1/2 throttle, breaks up a bit through 3/4 then revs after it gets on main.

I got a thick sleeved, fresh 69.5 bore, ported, stock, cylinder I'm trying to jet. 39 pwk, dgh needle center clip, 52 pilot, 200 main right now and still a little sputter at 3/4 throttle. I started with typical jetting 50 pj, 180 main and it had a bad sputter that I confused with rich but with a plug check I seen it was lean. I decided I was going to find out what will make it rich so I put in the biggest jet I had 200 and it ran better but still 3/4 throttle has that lean sputter but it rev out after I got on the main jet. I ordered a needle to help the 3/4 throttle and maybe get my main back down out of the 200s. Am I on the right track? Anyone ever had to throw that much jet at a stock cylinder?  The cylinder is a ebay cylinder from dirt factory but the porting looks like someone knew what they was doing and my engine guy measured it and he said it was close enough to what he does he didn't touch it.

Engine and Bottom End / pro design cool head failure

I'm going to reuse this head and was wondering what cc of insert in need for around 190 psi with 69.5 piston? Plus with this big of piston does the head need to be modified any?

Here's a picture of the crack. I try to contact them but with my luck I'll just buy another dome myself.

I noticed I was losing coolant and the water jacket was getting pressure from the combustion chamber so I thought I had a bad head gasket but when I tore it down the head had a huge crack in the dome. Is this common for these heads? It's a 22cc so compression wasn't to crazy. I put a stock head back on for the time being but if this is a problem with these heads I might just keep the stock one on the machine.

Man I was going to go and watch that race. I got up that morning and it was raining so I didn't go. Nothing compares to Loretta Lynn's.

Use to love watching fuel when they had skateboarding, bmx, mx, freestyle mx and other extreme sports but now it basically a ufc channel and now they messed up my speed channel. I agree the programming has fallen off the last couple of years.

Engine and Bottom End / Rebuilding bottom end
« on: August 21, 2013, 09:24:06 PM »
I tore in a old drag racing 250r bottom end today and found that it use to be ran on methanol because the crank area had some corrosion on the aluminum. Is this a problem? It could be cleaned up when I bead blast it but it will still have little pits all in it. The bearing races are still in great shape plus the case saver mounts are still in tact so I would like to save it if I could. Also, I found that the shift forks are showing some wear but the gears look in great shape even where the forks ride in the gears. I know I need to replace the forks but can I get away without changing the gears they ride in or will it just turn my new forks like the ones I replaced? I've had this problem in older Rs and it usually shows wear in the gears also but this tranny doesn't.

The bike looks awesome! Your attention to detail is unreal. I know the rears are maier fenders but are the front maiers also? If they are maiers how hard is it to put a oem hood on them? The way you trimmed it around the fuel shutoff they scream oem fenders. The only thing that gives them away is the mount on the side and the vents on the side.
