Suspension and Chassis / Re: Bent swingarm or frame???
« on: January 31, 2022, 08:32:21 PM »
Unfortunately I don’t, I can definitely throw it back together and take some if it’ll help. It’s basically stripped down to the frame now. But I’ll throw it back together and take some sometime this week.

Just kindof has me thrown for a loop a little cause I believe I’ve measured everywhere that would throw it off.

The swingarm was about 1” higher on the left off the bench when I measured it vs the right. I ran a level across it then measured at the mounting point center lines but I’m not sure how the swingarm would twist Like that without there being a noticeable twist in the tube or kink or something obvious.

I’ve been looking for a -1 swingarm here and there but haven’t found one other then new. Figured I that would definitely rule out the swingarm but like I said and I’m sure you know 86/7 stuff isn’t as available as 8/9 stuff.  And I ride a little bit of everything so don’t want one that’s gonna come apart if I ride a track or possibly smack a tree in the woods hahahahaha

Suspension and Chassis / Bent swingarm or frame???
« on: January 30, 2022, 10:32:18 PM »
Alright guys, so I have an 86 and it sits roughly 1-1.5” lower on the LH side bottom frame tube. (Trying to remember tore it apart 6-8 months ago) I tore the thing down cause I’m going to gusset the frame and have it powdered. (Lower subframe has hardline crack) but I want to get it figured out before this so it’s not “stuck” in this position if it’s the frame. You can see it in the bars, subframe, seat tank, definitely noticeable the whole quad looks like it’s got a gangsta lean….cause you know 250rs are gangster and everything hahahaha

So what kindof makes me think it’s the swingarm is, I cranked the LH front shock spring preload ring down about as far as I could (springs were almost binding) and backed off the Rh spring ring and it was still lower on the LH side. Granted this doesn’t rule out the frame being bent but my thought process leads me to think it’s the swingarm.
I threw the frame on a big metal table to measure it but i flipped it over And realized the factory weld has a “ball” on it making it sit crooked so I then tried to set it on some 2x4 metal tubing but couldn’t find any points on the frame that were more then 1/16” off.

Any place you guys would suggest to measure maybe I’m over looking?

Setup is stock frame and swingarm houser +3 LT a-arms is what I was told. They have houser stickers but they’re stickers so I’m not exactly sure hahahaha
I’d like to get this figured out so I can get the ball rolling on this thing and have it done before summer.

Thanks in advance to any one with ideas.

Wanted / Re: Harness
« on: February 13, 2018, 10:05:50 AM »
The harness showed up yesterday. Didn't realize it till my phone updated it was in the mailbox so I got it around 10pm. Hahaha
I'll be gone most of the day today but if I get time tonight I'll take some pics. And possibly tomorrow pull the one I have off and compare em to each other. Kindof a review side by side comparison.
So far I like it, I'm gonna wrap it with something though cause it comes with heat-shrink. It's probably not needed but u have some harness sleeve I bought months ago.

I'll update this in the next day or two with pics. Or Maybe start a new thread with pics comparing them.

That would be cool if you had one. If not I'll buy one new, let me know.
Up in the air on just buying new for "my" 250r. Might just rob the one off my 363 and replace it with new if you don't have one.

I've seen the jds ones kompulsive and the Ricky stator ones. Just figured I'd ask here first, and try to clean someone's "junk" out for em and pay for some beer or help offset the sugar tax on soda hahaha

Thanks for the replies though, I appreciate it.

Finally putting that gear I got from you a long time ago to use hickwheeler, too many other projects.

Any of you folks have an extra harness laying around? Finally getting around to putting the "extra" R I have together and the harness is different that I have. The reg plug are both female, not sure what the harness I have is off of as I got it in pieces.
Figure a new harness is the easiest route to go.

I seen a couple trx's and an atc R @ sandlakes last weekend. They looked nice from across the sand but was helping a kid with us get his yfz back to camp.
His shift shaft came apart wanted to pull out the shift lever side.

I'll try and make it down to this. Will have to being a banshee guy or yfz guy with me though. Unless one of them buys the other R I have from me. We'll see

Lounge / Letting others ride your stuff?
« on: March 03, 2017, 10:36:27 PM »
I hear what your guys are saying, these were 400ex and 250ex that "nobody" is allowed to ride and his 2 banshees for the most part anyone could ride them.
I'm all about not letting people ride stuff if they're incapable.
Very few people I'd let Barrow one of my bikes, but if im riding with ya let's go, u can ride one of my bikes.

How many of you guys let other people you know or have just met (within reason) ride your stuff?

Reason I ask is (long read) sorry hahaha

This last weekend we went on a weekend trip to sandlakes in Oregon. There were 10 of us and we brought 3 bikes and 7 quads. One quad broke 5 min in. So now we have 9 rides.
Here's where it gets interesting....One of the guys brought 4 quads but only wanted specific people to ride each quad and the other ones had to sit. (his stuff, his decision)
My buddy and I brought bikes, So we start talking to the "neighbors" dad and son ask a bounch of questions about the bikes so we say they can ride them if they want. Son instantly excited and they offer to trade us for a ride.
Next day they come over and the son and I go for a ride. He did good for a 12yr old on a 450 and first real big bike in the sand.
Now once the guy that rode down with us seen we were letting people ride our stuff he starts letting everyone ride his. Not dictating who's riding what like he had been. Previously over the weekend.  Just thought it was kindof weird but is it just that, that's the way it is?
Only thing I told the kid was don't hurt yourself, the bike can be fixed you can't.

The Mad Scientist / Anybody ever made a homemade air intake?
« on: February 27, 2017, 11:44:44 PM »
It was a pain in the ass, atleast the circle was. The rest wasn't too bad.
Made it all by hand out of a 2x2 sheet I had laying around, was bored one day and decided to do it. I'm happy with how it turned out.

I made this one then powdered it black. Nothing fancy or much thought into it. Just bored and figured it could suck more being an open filter instead of in the box. My 250r will spend 99% of it's running life in the sand so mud/water shouldn't be much if an issue.
I made it for stock intake tube and filter. Have a uni on it and welded a nut to hold the brake RESI. Essentially just made the front of the stock airbox out of steel

The Mad Scientist / What watt and kind of LED lights will on Trx250R

Post up what you figure out with ur led setup. I'm going to put one on mine before the summer gets here. But still up in the air on how I'm going to do it.
I want to utilize the stock switch for a cleaner look and will probably go with an eBay cheapo light bar and a battery but would be nice to not have to charge it. I'm considering running 2 12" bars one "in" the front bumper and one on the bars.

York's were oe ac pumps on 80s Volvo's and a few other vehicles. Can be had cheap from a wrecking yard if you can find them. And they pump like a mofo.
If I were to throw electric comps on it would be viair their customer service is great. Not the fastest pumps but always willing to work with you to fix them when an issue arises.
I have a bagged s10 waiting for me to stop being lazy and throw the York on there but currently run 2 viair 480c compressors and it takes about 5-7min to fill 10 gallon tank from 0 to 175psi

Lounge / what did you do to your R today?
« on: November 21, 2016, 02:24:55 AM »
Definitely a 56 on the left side. The old one on the right I believe is a 26 little farm boss. A couple old homelites too on the back side.
My cousin keeps buying all the old saws he comes across to put in the post.
Stihls and huskys were bought by me or the old man. But the others were basically given to me to throw in there. I told him the only thing is they all gotta run hahah a ton of saws that are never used but a conversation piece
