Hey all!!,
Just wanted to give props to my 86 R, I was out riding the other day and my throttle stuck wide open, (figured out there was some nylon coating frayed, my bad) and I was doing about 50mph through the woods on a tight 2 track no time to hit the kill switch, avoided two big oaks and next thing I know im on my back after I bounced off a tree trying to save my R, 29 yrs old she is and got her first crack in plastic:sorrow: anyway, this old girl bounced through the woods and ended up upside down wrapped around a tree between wheel and swingarm, yes I was wearing a helmet and it may have saved my life, the only thing wrong was a crack in my rear fender and a bent tie rod. My point is.... this is one well made machine, I found the problem after I limped back to her and got her back on all fours and seen a frayed piece of nylon coating over the throttle cable that made it stick ( hence always check your ride for problems, my bad) but if this was a newer built quad I think it would have been in the boneyard. I actually have a banshee throttle (which I do like) and they have a coating aroung the cable by the carb, that was the problem it was frayed. I am so glad Im here to tell the story but I just got my new tie rod on and went for a rip today and she was good as new!!! Man I love this R!!! does anyone obsess over there R!! Like I do??? It was funny, I limped in the house and said I wrecked the R, my 7 yr ols daughter said....Is the R alright???LOL Ride Safe, check your equipment, Love the R!!!
