Did you bore it and install a new piston or just install new rings?   If so, what was the piston to cylinder wall clearance upon assembly.  It sounds loose (a lot of piston slap) like the piston to cylinder wall clearance is over .006".

New rings will restore the compression but will not tighten the piston to cylinder wall clearances.  Excessive piston to cylinder wall clearance will cause the piston skirts to crack and break off.
Well man, piston is slapping away..Didn't really look into it too much because it was fine before and during the first start up,we thought the radiator shroud was chattering ..Took the shroud off yesterday and fired it up,still chattering ..Did the old screw driver to the ear trick and put it on every part of the engine, coming right from the top ends..Its all good because the season is over anyways and on a good note, the bore will cost me $65.00,piston kit $120.00 and $20.00 in gaskets..Not running it anymore and will get it done as soon as taxes come in...

A buddy checked it for me and its a broken radiator shroud..All I did was new rings, wrist pin bearing and gaskets..You can hear it in this video before the rebuild and its fine (one im posting now),fast forward to 1:45,thats when I started it..In the rebuild video,I tried to zip-tie the shroud until I can get it aluminum welded..

Nope,I won't be riding it much at all and don't ever plan on getting one..I have spinal fusion in my neck and lower back so riding quads are way too ruff on me but,I will jump on it every once in a while and open it up but thats about it..Nope,she won't beable to start it lol..Something i'll have to do everytime we go out and with her still learning/stalling,i'll have to do it alot lol..Don't want it looking like carp so already plan on having the frame powder coated at the end of the season along with more polishing and rebuilding the whole lower end..I really like it and plan on hooking it up for her as it will be well taken care of VS going to shit like the last owner was letting it do..Thanks guys..

I made a post in the intake section trying to track down a running issue and after days of going through everything,I got my wifes new 1988 TRX250R running ok BUT something was still not right..When we first got it,I pushed the kicker and told the guy I didn't wanna trade my 2 KX500's because compression felt super low, wasn't even close to my 1997 YZ250..I could spin it over with 2 fingers but he swore up and down its perfect and the TRX250R's compression was lower than other 250's due to the 3 layer head gasket..I looked it up and found that these quads do use a 3 layer gasket so I believed him..Ended up getting it running OK like I said above but I knew something wasn't right so did a compression test..Kicked it over WOT until the tester needle stopped which stopped at 145PSI..Told a few people that owned 250R's and they said thats way too low..Well I ended up doing a fresh top end and while I had the Paul Turner National top end off,I give it a good sanding and polish..Not the best but looks 10000X better..Got it back together after 5 days and fell in love today :) ..The compression is AWESOME so I know when we ride it again with the new top end, power will be night and day..I already plan on doing quite a bit to it at the end of this coming season but for now,im doing my heat cycles and getting it ready so the wife can ride it..This was my 3rd heat cycle and I plan on doing 3 more tomorrow..Wish I could ride quads like I can bikes because I really like it..I'll have a bunch of videos to post once spring hits.. Glad to see you got it figured out sounds like the other guy isn't the brightest they really are a awesome machine
Yup,not the brights for sure..I have no ideal why he rigged the plug wire like it was,I mean a plug cost me a whole $3 bucks..The quad is at a good home and will be very well taken care of by me,im very anal about my stuff..What I mean by anal is everyone says this quad looks really nice but IMO,it looks like shit..Im going to end up spending hours on top of hours with a Mothers Power Ball, sand papar and some good/quality paint..Its also never going to be beat to hell as its my wife quad..She just started learning on her Yamaha Blaster and has 2 days and a total of 8hrs on it,just started going into 2nd gear lol..I'll ride it every once in a while but im disabled (spinal fusion in my neck and lower back) so just like her,im not a hard rider anymore..I'll open it up in 2nd/3rd gear but thats about it..We also ride with our 6 year old so can't take off and leave him haha..

Your video is set to private
I deleted it because I didn't wanna put the guy on blast until I was 200% sure of the issue which I posted in the reply above this one..Im still not happy with the compression but,its running and i'll re-ring it (hone, rings, wrist pin bearing and gaskets) once spring gets here..Tomorrow im taking it to a buddys and gets welding the part of the bracket back on the nerf bars/foot pegs so I can put them back on..He also has a few new choke/idle assys so putting a new one in the carb then adjusting air/fuel..If I can talk him into it,i'll have him take a video for me with my phone of me ripping it a little ...Thanks so much again everyone..I'll be around here for a LONG time and will be in the video/pic section alot lol...

Thanks  for all the replys guys and I found the issue..It was the plug and plug  wire the whole dang time..Im guessing that the guy I got the quad from  didn't tighten the adapter that gos over the top of the plug and it came  off on him..Other than putting another adapter on it,he put a zip-tie  around the boot of the plug wire so it was tight around the plug..When I  started it the first time,it was fine until I hit the throttle a little  and thats when the issue started..What happened was the vibes made the  wire jump around and with me not knowing about it and kept kicking it,it  would back fire and flood out..Did the same thing even with the new  plug because I took the adapter off thinking it wasn't needed for that  plug boot..Ended up looking the plug wire over good the shined a flash  light up into the plug boot and was like WTF..Put the adapter on it and  fired right up smile emoticon ..Heres a video I took after putting the adapter on it and getting it running..Again,thanks so much guys..

BTW,
I already know I can hone the cyl then put a new set of rings and wrist pin bearing on it and be good to go..When I had the intake off,I looked inside at the cyl and both piston and cyl look perfect..Thats not a big deal and not much money but im not trying to put money into something that was said to be ready to ride and runs perfect..I have no problems doing the work but shouldn't have to put money into it..

Well the choke  knob is your  idle adjustment  it  spins spin it left  or right  to adjust  idle and if itbis broken  it will cause all sorts  of running  issues  for you.  I would  replace that first if it is  broken  . So ya don't  go chasing problems caused  from that.
Its just to top of the knob thats missing,I can still turn it..When I check it,it was turned all the way clock wise so was closed so wouldn't idle..
Tell me if im wrong but im pretty sure its ready for a new set of rings, gaskets and wrist pin bearing..When he got here,I pushed the kick starter with my hand..I owned a bunch of CR,KX and YZ 250's,this quad doesn't even come close to having compression like any of my dirt bikes have...I mean it has compression but doesn't have that "thump" like im used to with my bikes..As soon as I pushed it,I told him I didn't want it and not trading..He asked why and I told him its because the compression is low..He swore up and down that the compression on the TRX250R quads is lower than CR250 dirt bikes..Did a search about 15mins ago and from what im seeing, compression on the TRX250R should be around 180PSI correct?Im renting a compression tester from Autozone tomorrow..Hook it up and kick it with throttle wide open until the needle stops then see where its at...
