Carburetor, Intake, and Exhaust / centermount pipe fit with led intake?
« on: August 11, 2014, 03:38:59 PM »
I have a centermount TRX11 and a LED intake, but do not see any way that the two could fit together.   I switched to my regular TRX9.

Engine and Bottom End / ESR Engine Cases
« on: July 13, 2014, 06:28:24 PM »
I had to clearance some for the +4 crank, with the .210" deck height set.  The counterbalances also appeared to just barely touch, but after I mocked it up, there is plenty of room.  Everything else has been really nice using these cases.

Yes... I haven't measured them compared to a stock bare set, but there are numerous areas where the casting appears thicker.

Engine and Bottom End / ESR Engine Cases

I'm building one now... The cases (.210" extra deck height, machined for a 78mm sleeve) with bearings, and the online discount, were $590... Plus another $100 for misc. gaskets and crank seals, then I paid just over $200 for a nice low hour transmission, counterbalancer and clutch-side components from dill250R.  Add a $230 stroker crank from ebay and I feel like I have a fairly-solid foundation for my next dune engine.  The cases, bearings and included seals all seem really nice.

Wanted / Countershaft collar needed...
« on: July 08, 2014, 01:54:38 PM »
I'm assembling a ESR370 using ESR cases and am in need of a Countershaft Collar.  I've looked online and have had zero luck.  Call/text me at 580-276-6732 with what you have.   Thanks!

Here's my 84 C10... Still looking good with factory paint, interior, drivetrain, etc. and only 27,792 miles on the odometer.

Suspension and Chassis / Balljoint stud turning

I've had good luck by spinning the nuts on several times without the spindles to remove any burrs from the threads.  After that, the tension of the spindle taper will usually hold them to tighten everything up.

When removing them, I've used tapered Vice Grips to hold the stud between the boot and spindle.

Body and Controls / 450r rear master cylinder ?

I used a 450R m/c on my 88 trail bike.  I just attached the 250R lines, and reused the pushrod from the 250R unit. No big deal, just remove the snap ring and swap parts.

Body and Controls / Trim OEM front fenders or not?
« on: March 05, 2014, 02:35:54 PM »
Wow... Those are nice Fullbores, but I really prefer the Honda fenders.  Thanks for the offers, but I've nearly decided to just mount the pipe, then trim the minimum I have to for clearance.  It should fit with a little tinkering.

Thanks again!

Lounge / What do you guys use for quad stands?
« on: March 05, 2014, 02:34:38 PM »
I just use an old AC Racing aluminum X-stand.  It is a good height, but does require lifting the front of the atv up to slip the stand underneath.  It can also be tricky getting the "hooks" at the right spot for my bikes with stretched swingarms.

Yes, these still have their shine and do not have any spider webbing.  They stay in the dark shop under a sheet 360 days a year.  I want to keep them, but am thinking about getting some more to trim.

It's tempting.  I'm going to see how the pipe fits then flip a coin.  These were NOS when I got them 8-10 years ago, but it would look cool.  Thanks for the replies!

Like the title says, I can't make up my mind on whether or not I want to trim my OEM fenders...  They are really nice with no cracks, deep scratches or damage, I've just got the bug to to to a larger TRX11 exhaust and know it will need clearance.  I've thought about trying to find some nice 86-87 fenders that have already been trimmed, but haven't had much luck.  I need encouragement, so what would you do?

Below is an older pic of the 86 (last year's setup) with full fenders and a TRX9 exhaust.
