i will just leave this here.

Bruce did it with a 250 cylinder against an old XC1 quad, it was mind blowing. I'm thinking he must have some kind of Ninja reflexs or something because Mike O never gets beat off the line. Either way I still find it amazing someone on a kicker machine can beat out all those guys with an E start no matter how they make it work I just think my reactions are too slow to beat out some of them.

Hmm that's odd. Maybe fiddle with the clutch adjustment a bit?

I was practicing again today and I really got the hang of it in second gear.

But that's a great point about not being able to hear the engine. Didn't think about that

My guess is the bottom end oil is still too thick and it doesn't react the way I expect it to, I could probably make it go but I would rather get out a little behind then way in the back. Being 1st isn't a huge deal for me but being last is, you can usually find a way around a few guys but a bunch of guys takes some serious work and you risk getting behind someone who is prone to making mistakes. Just how I approach it but I always go for the consistent start vs being 1st, if you don't start and think it is you lose way more time.

Every time I kick in gear at a start it never fires, will all day long just never at the start of a race. I start in neutral because I want to know it will start, not kick it and hit the seat only to find it is dead. Hard to hear it start over all the noise if you have many four strokes around you. That being said I saw a guy beat a 24V 450ER with a rekluse off the line, which involves simply pushing a button. Bruce beat everyone off our line by a bike length or more and I can tell you by watching the video he started in neutral and went to first just like I do so I am guessing reflex is the biggest factor more than anything else.

Terrible loss for those who were close to him, in my limited dealings with him I found out he thought highly of Nick Adams who used to own Jet Suspension so Andy was an easy choice for me knowing the character of Nick and who he would associate with. Its a shame the project with the 450R rear conversion for a 250R is probably lost again due to another untimely passing, Andy had just told one of my friends he was about to start producing the kit to make it all work using what Laz had started and would most likely be available late fall or winter.

I'm pretty sure the aftermarkets don't put the yellow in with it, almost positive it goes color to color like you are thinking but I would check the schematic to be safe.

so i used your hose idea but i ended up with a 2 1/2" shop vac hose. works perfect! i took it for a rip and didn't even have to change jetting. now who knows what will happen when its 90 deg out but ill cross that bridge when i come to it. i bought a OE splash guard but maier plastic doesnt have the mounts for the guard. how did you get yours to fit? or do you have OE plastic?

I run stock fenders so I have no idea about mounting that up to Maier fenders. Most of my air flow comes from the lid being cut, I just run the hose it has a little more.

does anyone using the stock snorkel use the stock splash guard up under the hood?

Yes that is where I stuff the end of the hose, it ends up in almost the same place as the snorkel.

I use a piece of washer hose or that flexible hose off of a pool so I can snake it through all the added stuff on mine instead of the stock snorkel setup. I also run a lid with a opening and a deflector attached to it similar to a HRC lid on a 450R, open hole on the bottom so it will free flow when water comes in.

I know the Deere sliders were always the best when we ran them with an unlocking front end and didn't have air brakes or a pickup transmission. Now the shovels are kind of junk same with cat but ours are conversions by Jewell Kobelco shovels fast smooth and cheap, next is Komatsu.

Mitsubishi Cat is where most of them come from in mid sized like you would probably run. You can make them a lot better but it takes lots of time balancing pumps and messing with the negative flow, I would assume a Deere is the same way because the operating system is basically the same. They have changed the pump system on the recently (E or F series) but I'm not sure how much it changed the operating characteristics. They also have an EH now which they have labeled as a "Hybrid" and the swing system is ran partially off of accumulators. I have only been around one and haven't done much to it but I would assume the swing operation would be noticeably different operating. Most people I know say a Hitachi is the best hydraulic excavator on  the market, higher cycle times ect, coal mines seem to prefer them over the large excavators and shovels like 5130s or 374s from Cat.

Odd triangle? You meaning the high track dozer? That should be common if you work for cat  6n 6t n up all those series are all high tracks.

The picture is on page 3, you have to look at it closely to see that the roller frame is almost or is centered with the final drive.  The one we had in was like a D4H with the same type of arrangement the one in the picture has, grapple and the different roller frames.

I work at a Cat dealer and I have noticed two funny little dozers in these pictures that I have seen at work recently, the little Komatsu and the logging dozer in one of the Oregon pictures. The Komatsu looks funny because of its shape compared to what I am used to seeing a finish dozer look like and the one in Oregon has whatever that odd undercarriage arrangement is on it that makes the tracks like a triangle. We have a few small logging companies around work and one of them actually has one of those machines and it still has decals on it from the Cat dealer it came from in Oregon.

The shocks need to be the mechanical stop not the a arms/ball joints, the long travel shocks are physically longer giving them more shaft travel so they will not be the mechanical stop on standard a arms. The mounting points are different on the a arms from standard to "long travel", they don't truly add travel to the front wheels they just give the person tuning the shock more shaft travel to work with.
