Is it cadmium or yellow zink plating,  we had all our hardware for the Porsche restoration cars I was doing done in cadmium.   It has a oil in water effect under different light conditions when it's fresh.   I love getting hardware back from plating it's like Christmas lol

ok just for the record i knew what those hubs were before i scrolled down..............lol. just helped a bud tear down and pc his ltz400. i picked up his spindles and held them up to my 05/05 trx450r ones and i swear they are exactly the same spindles minus the honda part number

Do you think the trx450r calipers would bolt up then?

I have done some reading about guys that raced the 450rs back in 2004/05 swapping to the ltz450r knuckles but that's a totally different machine from what I understand,  you are probably right.  Glad the 400ex calipers bolted right up along with the rotors.   Now to get a caliper rebuild kit for the calipers I have and a master cylinder.   I hate frankinestine projects that I didn't build lol it's been a mystery the entire time I've been rebuilding this 250r one weird part after another lol

thanks for your help!

I think those are Suzuki z400 hubs

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-Suzuki-KFX400-Z400-LTZ-400-Front-Right-Left-Spindles-/282173291458?hash=item41b2d6bbc2:g:nMkAAOSwwbdWOBM7&vxp=mtr

lol we were both searching and came up with the same thing lol...  I wonder why the previous owner wanted to run those?  I wonder if there is some advantage or the guy just put what he had laying around on this 1986 250r, I have a lot more reading to do....

there probley 400ex spindles and hubs if the 400ex calipers bolt up i don't think 250r calipers will fit on the 400ex spindles

The 400ex I got the calipers from had different design knuckles with the tie rod position closer to the hub these look like the tie rod end is pushed further away from the hub center line.   I will try to swing by my friends house tomorrow after work and take a few comparison photos

I have searched the interwebs looking at 450r and 300ex knuckles I compared them to my friends 2004 and 2006 400ex nothing similar between the two.   Does anyone have some information that could help?  400ex calipers will bolt up to them but a set of on known year 250r calipers will not.

Sleeve has some meat on it. Doesn't looked machine ported to me. Looks like they cleaned up the intake ports a tad bit.
Thank you for the info,  I wasn't sure it was throwing me off comparing it to the spare cylinder that came with the four wheeler.

Welcome to the site my friend. First of all I think it's awesome that you have a little helper. My sons both loved working on things with me. It gets even better when you get them out riding with you. It amazing watching them learn a grow. Thanks Loren
Yessir it is amazing he blows my mind at the age of three,  telling him to loosen a bolt or tighten it and he turns it the correct way with zero doubt.   I know it's easy to brag about your own but it truly is a awesome thing watching.   Thanks for the help here on the forum!   I am starting to suspect these knuckles are maybe aftermarket or from a later model 300ex?   I look at photos of 450r knuckles on google they look nothing like these.  I am having a hell of a time getting the needle roller bearings out of the aftermarket swing arm geez someone hated this quad the bearing cages were dust lol...

Finishing up my gussets kit install and mocking up some other parts figured I would also test fit the used calipers I bought a few years ago,  but they wouldn't fit.  Thankfully a friend of mine had a parts 400ex and I was able to compare the 400ex calipers to my spindles and they bolt up.   I noticed the knuckle is different from the 400ex I am now trying to figure out what knuckles I have.   I will attempt to post pictures of them after I get home from my shop tonight.
