I have a program that calculates this and you can input where your shock mounts are located to compare.  I would want a little rising rate on the front so it acts like a linkage in the rear but not too much.  Finding that sweet spot with maximum shaft travel is the key.

The only thing they changed was aluminum bodies from the old steel ones.  We offer the GT Suspension line you can check out on our website that are very reasonable.

Here's my honest opinion on the Elka deal.  I've been receiving calls on this daily.  To make these shocks work to our standards they will have to be completely modified from spring rating, extended and compressed lengths and valving.  Yes, these are better than stock but if you're going to spend your hard earned money wouldn't you rather have them right rather that just better?

No. It goes over the carrier and sets between the carrier and swingarm on the sprocket side

The TRX450 carrier is narrower than the 250R/400EX.  So you will want to keep the 250R/400EX carrier and run a spacer on the chain side.  We keep them in stock.

I would recommend against the adjustable dog bone as it also changes the progression on the rear shock. And .500" in front shovk length will raise the frame approximately 1.00" with the same springs, which is huge.

For the rear, if you run an adjustable dogbone, for every inch you move the ride height it will also change the compressed frame height.  So instead of bottoming 1.5" off the ground you will be bottoming your frame at 3.5" off the ground.  For stock A-Arms the normal extended length is 16.00"

For every 1/4" of shock movement the rule of thumb is that it will change your ride height 1/2".  So a 2:1 leverage ratio.  You need to raise the frame 12" off the ground then measure eye to eye where the shocks bolt up and this is the correct shock extended length you need for the A-Arms you have.
