Projects / Another 450 Hybrid Build (for the wife)
« on: April 04, 2015, 12:22:38 AM »
Things shifted some. Being in the army I am limited on weight but even more so on space. Usually it isn't an issue but I just moved to Alaska in Sept. so I left it in storage.

I didn't take it bad since I didn't race! Besides, if I were racing I'd say "maybe you should have been in front of me!" Haha.

I hope to see you and others in a few years when I come back.

Here's a little video on youtube.  Can't tell who's two stroke or ATC is on it but you get to see them for a little.

Check out youtube and type in oklahoma gold rush for people's videos on the races.

It'll give you an idea on what the place looks like and gives an idea on what the races look like.

Thanks tony. Yeah, who knows what fits what so I put the welder to use and had some fun. Been having a good time putting your gusset kit in. Just been bouncing around from mod to mod.

Working on my stenciling of my aluminum air box in my living room now!  I need to get with you on the reservoir mounts. I sent ya a pm.

I rolled it out today to clean the garage. Gives a little better view.

Really? I knew I've seen it before. How did they line up? Now, I think everyone calls pro peg something different. I always thought it was the wider and fatter pegs. Then I heard it was having the front tube built into the frame so the nerfs could slide into them. Regardless, the mod to fit was simple and with buying Tony's bracket and drilling the hole in the front bracket at a new location it would be very easy.

I did find out something when I exposed the front tube at the same length on the right side as the other side. It didn't reach the same point in the inside of the frame. So I looked at the main tube at the peg mount and noticed on the right side it sticks out further from the frame. I guess it's because of the brake pedal and stuff.

This being said, my nerfs stick out further on the right by 1/4". They did the same on my last set as well. I just never noticed it until now.

Hick, when I bought my parts I was on a $7500 budget so I had to keep track. I also listed everyone that I bought it from. I obviously blew that budget!

Now it is kind of mod as I go.

Jared, just take your time and do it right for the way you ride. There's lots of builds here with many different budgets. Plenty of great people with extensive knowledge on here to lend a hand.

Jared, I haven't counted my engine rebuilds. Just initial trade value I got it for and the small fortune of a build that I did. It all adds up and im still going. This is also not paying retail on a single thing.

Welcome. All I can recommend without you asking questions is do it right the first time.

I modded a whole lot but had that itch to mod these few other things but didnt. Now I'm slowly doing those things and costing myself more money. Anyways, welcome and we look forward to watching a rebuild.

Both peg mounts made. Welding up front will occur after I knock out some stuff tomorrow. Gotta torch the powder to remove it in the crevices so I can weld clean. As for now, here's how she sits.

By the way, the front mount will not fit our bikes. The bracket is too long. All you have to do though is drill a new hole and trim down the metal.

Below are pics in position. Still have to make new hole for peg area and weld the front. The backside of the front tubes will be capped off flush with the frame.

Disclaimer: the nerfs actually sit back 1 1/8" inch from stock. No higher, just back due to preference. I preferred it butt up against the gusset for clean lines.
