Oh man, pulling the motor apart just for the center gasket! What we go through to have a little piece of mind. Those rezi clamps are looking good!

It was actually leaking pretty bad.  After all the time I've put into this, I couldn't stand the thought of dirt and dust caking up all over the bottom end.  Also, the resi clamps work great.  I think I have your entire catalog installed on this bike.

Big steps this weekend... Got the motor back together, sealed up tight, and re-installed in the frame; Installed my new CR ignition; and modified my Streamline hydraulic clutch to use my ASV shorty levers.

Does anyone have an adapter plate they wouldn't mind parting with before I order one from ESR.  Thanks in advance.

Well, I finally filled with oil, coolant, and fuel!  Damn thing fired up on the first kick (actually caught me a little by surprise. LOL!) and idled smooth.  The only problem, center case gasket leaks.  So, back out it came.  Right now the motor's split apart and I'm cursing the cheap gasket maker I used during assembly as I carefully scrape it off, trying not to gouge the mating surface or scratch the powder coat.  On a brighter note, I got some cool bling in the mail from Pumashine.  Thanks a bunch Tony!!

I'm on the southern side of stl close to fenton if you know where that is. I could meet just about anywhere though, how much were you thinking

$230.  I took these off the quad when I bought it.  When I get home, I'll send you some more pics.  I also have the modified stock '86 arms with some +2 wheel spacers that came on the quad, if you'd be interested in the whole front end.  Just fyi, the arms won't fit an '88-'89 frame.

Looking for a silencer that will work with a fmf fatty expansion pipe and a arms from 250r/400ex that are cheap aftermarket or good shape stockers. Also interested in 450r or equivalent front shocks.

I've got a set of 450R shocks.  Where in STL are you?  I'm in Troy, MO and I come into the city almost every weekend.

Engine and Bottom End / Leaking coolant arond cool head studs
« on: April 15, 2014, 09:55:45 PM »
I would think that if the outer ring was damaged, you'd see coolant leaking from between the head and the cylinder.  The studs are not sealed from the cooling system.  The head nuts and washers are the only seal.  Maybe you could put a thin film of RTV on each side of the cylinder head washers?

Isn't there any way to avoid that kicker damage on these QC covers?  Longer kicker shaft?  Seems like it would be a huge bummer to scratch a cover you just payed $400+ for.

Dosen't come with a bottom end, but might be a good start.  I think it comes with pipe, silencer, and carb too.
