Finally got everything together. Took her out for a few heat cycles yesterday. Planning on getting a new seat cover and graphics. Got some DG nerfs haven’t put on yet. But I just wanted to ride a little and enjoy my project. I really appreciate everyone’s help from day one. So thankful for you guys!

Haven’t been on in a while, spacer worked out great! Getting frustrated with waiting on parts. Got shocks, arms, and rear bead locks coming. Ordered most of this stuff in late May early June😵‍💫

I bought a cheap carrier also, I have splurged on something’s and not others. I just checked the depth of the carrier face to the face of the inner race. The cheap one I bought on Amazon is .994”. The OEM one is .900”. That puts the disc away from the adapter right there by approx .100” , just what I need to stop the disc from rubbing. My OEM carrier has a bad bearing. I am going to make a spacer at work tomorrow and run the cheap carrier until I can build the OEM one. Lesson learned! Thanks for your insight much obliged.

If you look at the picture the dial indicator was close to the disc and sprocket hubs. On the disc side it was about where the “D” is on the word Dominator. With a slip fit between the axle and the bearings , it’s hard to get a true runout reading on the axle. It really needs to be removed and set in v blocks or a lathe or something of that nature. I didn’t have time to mess with it yesterday, but I do believe the problem is where you are talking about, it’s in the stack between the carrier, and disc hub. There gotta be something coming up short right there. When you are stacking parts that have slip fits then you load them up with an anti fade nut, the flatness of each part axially can induce runout also. That is if they are not flat. RPM axle specs leaving there shop selling to customers is less than .005” runout.

I am going to check the bearing stack on the carrier against the old carrier. Disc face run out with fade nut tight was .010”. I also checked run out in the axle while installed . Sprocket side .012” disc side .008”. Seems like a lot of runout on a brand new axle 😐 I also checked end play on the axle, didn’t have any.

Thanks for the insight, the carrier bearings were installed by manufacturer when purchased. It’s not a constant rub, it rubs about half the rotor, turns free, then rubs again . I think the hub maybe bent. I am going to try my old hub and see if that makes a difference. Gonna check axle float and then face runout on the disc.

Rear brake disc rubbing caliper bracket? Any ideas guys would be helpful. I have put the rear dnd together 3 times. I have a new carrier, new axle, new anti fade, I even purchased a used stock rear disc hub, due to the seal area on mine was a little chewed up. When I tighten the anti fade  there is no end play in the axle shaft. It turns good. When I mount the caliper adapter to the brake stay , the disc rubs the caliper adapter. I can’t figure out where the run out is? Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks guys, pipe, silencer, carb and pyramid valve been sitting along time. My cousin bought all that from Duncan racing back in the day. Blew the motor up and parked it. Parts don’t have 10 hrs on them. PT tag says 89 TRX RACE.

I finally finished up our mill outage! I have started on my project putting it back together. I am waiting on my shocks, arms, and rear bead locks to come.Really hope all the effort I put into this motor works out. I am a little nervous it being my first one I built.

Any idea where this goes? I can’t find a home for it. It wasn’t on or bolted to the quad when I got it.

Hi guys been working a lot of shutdowns and there’s no end in sight till July. I see slot of ignition coils online very cheap. Any thoughts or anybody try them? Any recommendations? Son is picking up frame and swing arm this week from getting powder coated! New parts are starting to pile up. Sad I haven’t had time to bond with the build lately.

Suspension and Chassis / Re: Wheel offset recommendations

I talked to roll about spindles, but didn’t talk wheel offset. I definitely will if I decide to go that route. Roll design told me the roll design arms come with 2 different style spindle set ups for 250r.
86-89 stock spindles same as 04-05 450r
400ex spindles same as 06-14 450r
If I go with stock spindles and bolt roll design arms I could upgrade to 04-06 450r spindles without changing anything on the arms.
Anybody got any experience with the Alba bead lock wheels?
