I did that.  Works just fine.  Just make sure you run a separate ground.  Had to re-drill the hole in the hose clamp and shorten rubber isolator.

Here is my '85 ATC250R.  Have had it since June '93. Had Selvy build a pipe and tune it the summer of '94 and didn't mess with it until last year.  Have since added a few upgrades...Flexx Bars, BVC folding pegs, fresh top end with dune port, o-ringed head, VF3, CR ignition, Fourwerx seat cover, etc.  More to come.

You've now ISOLATED the coil.......so you will have to add a grounding strap from the aluminum mount to your motor or you will not get a spark.



Easy fix!

Correct.  I added one during final assembly.  These were taken before test fitting the tank and routing the wiring harness.  Made one trip to Glamis with this system and worked well, no issues.

Used an ESR clamp. Ditched the square top and opted for an insulated clamp. I had to shorten to length but seems to clamp tight. Will add a small screw if it rotates but I'm gonna give it a try.

New member here....Looking for a way to get ahold of a coil mount for my 01 cr 250 coil...Trike is an 85 atc..

In the same boat.  BDT made them in the past but nothing at the moment.  I am working on a bracket now for my '85.  Will post some pics once done.

Suspension and Chassis / 23" tall front tires

Has anyone ever ran 23" front tires on a TRX250R?  I follow a Banshee guy on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/mrkayak/ who is running 23" buffed GBC MX tires.  I solely ride in dunes and would love a little more "cushion".  I run a 23" buffed mohawk on my 85 ATC so I am aware of the weight and height.  To me, the Skat Trak mohawks just look tiny at 21". Currently running a 21x10-8 rear tire and like the look of a taller front tire.

Does anybody know if the 450 shocks will bolt up or will they need to be modified. I used to run burguard arms with TCS shocks. Set up for Intermediate MX racing and my weight. Best set up ever.  Anyone know if these people are still into shock building or in buisiness? I have googled it, keep getting a company in North Carolina popping up on my feed. I thought this company was in or near Cali. Also still waiting on motor parts to come in.
