Engine and Bottom End / Oil Leak: Shift Shaft Seal

Tig weld it shut, mill it flat and bore a new hole.  This is the best way to fix it, but it will need to be precise, otherwise the shaft is going to bind.

It might be mop and glow, but the scratches are very uniform and similar to what we see when people try to fix them when they don't know what they're doing.  Nonetheless, they are in pretty rough shape it appears.

Looks to me that someone who didn't know what they were doing may have tried to wet sand them....
