Looking at the main two shocks amount of shaft travel it seems that the one center shock #3 is the one doing most of the work absorbing impacts. But that’s  only a broad based assumption. Complexity and the added weight would have be evaluated as well

What the local paper said, he had been down to Tijuana on two other occasions. So he was somewhat familiar with how things go on at the border crossing. There are signs before you get close to the border informing you firearms are illegal in Mexico. There's more to this story we are not getting yet

Suspension and Chassis / Roll design a-arm questions
« on: April 06, 2014, 05:45:27 PM »
86-7 spindle is different from 88-9 tie rod arm is higher on the later yrs

I remember saying to myself I wish I could have suspension like that, but ran a no link ...

It's really a guess as more of his suspension stuff started showing up around '88

I'd send Doug himself a email with your pics. My guess is 88 oem spindles. DRD&D back then.

Might increase the turning radius also.

Yeah don't wanna experience that part failing. I would weld in plate to strengthen it ... Piece of mind when your way out there

Engine and Bottom End / Finding a Pro X piston kit
« on: March 22, 2014, 11:31:20 AM »
I was told that it's not like in the hay day when everything was trx250r. Loren said he would have locate a piston kit for me and he normally uses only certain brands. It's not like the manufacturers are going to have xxxx quantity of each size made any more. I have afew new oem pistons laying around but it's 85-6 stuff.

No that price is the norm. Loren bored my national ported cyl and found a woessner piston kit for it for the same price. I used to work at a cycle shop and a Wiseco was $49.99 so I really feel the prices are rediculous these days. I'm not familiar with the sizing any more, sorry I'm not any help
