I got a new extended axle for my 85 ATC. I need to use the stock drive sprocket from the original but I cannot seem to get it to come off. I have been heating it up, pouring the PB blaster to it and hitting it with a pipe and hammer to try and knock it back to get the split ring out of the way with no results. Is there a secret to get this off or do I just need to take it to a machine shop and have it pressed off?More than likely that axle has been exposed severely to the elements and that is why it is such a bear to come off! Now to remove axle bolt off it have drive chain still on and brake assembly on as well. Place atc on driveway gutter or use a 4x4 block of wood on flat piece of concrete with wood wedged between tire and concrete. Have a friend sit on biotic with bike in gear and have friend press down hard on rear brakes. And get the 2 biggest crescent wrenches you can and place on biggest nut on lock and push down it should come loose. Once loose you will have to have axle pressed off if you had that much issue loosening axle I'm sure a ton of water/moisture got in there. Hope this helps you.
Thanks
Who's selling these and or how much is this site getting?Tony it has been revised like you wanted, Thanks for clearing that up for me!!!Or I could just delete this thread.
Those are really nice! We picked this 86 up 2 years ago from the 2nd owner. It was last tagged in 05 & just sat in a garage covered in sand & years of grime. Doing a basic stock rebuild & left all the original coatings in tact because they were in good shape & I want this to be a rider & not a blingin dune bike like mine. It's a pain to keep everything shiny. The engine, swingarm & a-arms have been off this bike before, other than that I'm the first one to ever completely tear it apart & turn it into a lifesize exploded view. It's a nice survivor:Nice find and nice build!!!

Hey everybody, im currently running +2 lonestar std arms, works shocks with rezzies (practically brand new), and a stock rear stock (unsure of history). I ride alot of different terrains mostly fast paced, 60% desert , 30% MX, and 10% woods(wide trails). Im sitting right at 47" with this setup with 3/2 rims. Id like to order some JD Performance +3 arms to get me close to 50" to match my rear. Since I see it is only $100 more to upgrade to long shock arms, I figured i may as well upgrade. Im currently happy with my works but if im going to have to send them out for a revalve i figured itd be better to just get some long shocks that have more adjustability. I am however not happy with the rear shock, it bottoms on any big hit on the track or in the desert.Just from my experience ordering directly from Elka, but it does not matter who you order from or manufacturer there will always be room for improvement when ordering shocks!
So I see the Elka stage 3 package on many websites and it looks like a good deal for getting front and rear shocks for $999.99
Ive read reviews of people either loving or hating elka. Im aware there are better shocks out there but im not a racer just looking to go out and have fun but also get good performance. I wanted to see what everybody thought before i start ordering stuff.
I appreciate the advice
