Engine and Bottom End / Re: Crank Bearings Too Small???

So alittle searching and it looks like I was given the wrong bearings, whether they were mis marked or what I don't know. Essentially I was given 63/25 bearings. So now to order a new set.

Engine and Bottom End / Crank Bearings Too Small???

Okay, have my center cases prepped. Have all the bearings and seals installed and was going to start assembling my center cases. I have a brand new Hot Rods crank but it doesn't fit my crank bearings. I know it is an interference fit. The new crank matches my old crank at 28.03mm in diameter. The crank bearings are SKF 63/28 but the inner diameter of the inner race is approx 24.5mm. Wayyyyyy to small for an interference fit.
Has anyone ever run into this? I have a Crank puller/installer tool but this appears beyond tight. Unfortunately I don't have any of the old bearings still.

@bonedoc Did you CERACOAT your cases ? If so what was the process ? Bead blast or Vapour blast first ? :D

Yes, Had them Cerakoted in black. My buddy does that and powdercoating at his machine shop. He blasts everything then bakes them to burn off any oils. Then does the cerakote.

I'm getting ready to build my motor. I have a good set of inner cases all ready for the build. I ordered a full bearing and seal kit and have an OEM set of Honda gaskets. Question I have is does anyone have a layout of the bearings or a picture of which bearing go where. I'm pretty positive I have the correct ones for each half but want to be sure. I purchased a bearing and seal kit. Bearings are all SKF and OEM. There are alot of bearings in the kit so I just don't want to put any in the wrong place. Thanks

Thanks for the welcome.

Build on the '86 is going well. My frame is blasted and waiting for powder. Planned on doing puma's gusset kit. Had ordered it but the order just got cancelled, that it is out of stock. Not expected for 2-3 weeks. I'll wait the time frame as I want it gusseted before powdering the frame. Still gathering parts. Sent my rear shock outto Evan at Schmidty for a rebuild. My engine cases are getting cerakoted, etc. Will post pics once it starts to come along.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for allowing me to join the forum. I've built several 250Rs with the last being approx 12 years ago. Unfortunately I sold it in 2017 and regretted it ever since. Have had the itch and currently in the process of building an '86 250R. Looking forward to getting info and hopefully contributing to the forum.

Thanks

Harold
