Engine and Bottom End / Cylinder suggestion's

Is it possible you were using a short rod piston in there? That may be why it was sticking through the top of the cylinder.

Just a few  R's showed up.

Nice picture, I stopped to chat with the dude on the right in the first picture after we raced a few times.  I didn't get a chance to talk to anyone else.

I'm definately interested as well.  I have been planning to fabricate one myself for awhile but just haven't gotten around to it.

I'll be there Sept 25th-27th. It is also HQ weekend, as in BansheeHQ, RaptorHQ, YFZHQ weekend so there should be some good drag racing.

Engine and Bottom End / ESR 330 Questions
« on: November 15, 2014, 08:55:55 AM »
Please read through this thread before going with +4 mil. I went down that road and regretted it but I seem to like gobs of low end grunt.  I ended up with a trx7 port 330 and it fits me perfect.

I have read that ESR can leave the cylinder long so it can more easily be adjusted for the 4mil, but it would have to be planned out and requested prior to ordering.

Correct, I knew 88 was stepped I just didn't realize 89 was tapered instead of a step.

The blue ones are 86-87.  Thanks.

Okay, i'm not sure then.  I'll get some better pictures, these pictures make them look like crap anyway.

Yes Bowtie first thing I checked was spark, it is all good. I am in the process of going over the wiring...I am comparing it to my other R but problem is the other has the CR ignition set up so idk if that referance is gona be 100%....Could this be a ground issue? have spark but maybe not enuf to fire? My big question is what color is the ground that is usually by the coil? black with white stripe?

I don't have a ground by the coil, mine is up by the CDI but maybe that's not where it's supposed to be.  It's green in color.

The engine needs to have a good ground to the frame in order for everything to work right. This is usually accomplished by metal to metal contact at a motor mount.  Put an ohm meter between the one of the frame bolts and the head or cylinder or something and see if there is any resistance, should be 0.

What is the spark plug gapped at? Needs to be pretty tight, I put mine at .018".

Are the jets in the carb clean? what does the plug look like after kicking it to try to start? Wet or dry? smells like gas?

These 86/87?

Yes, I believe so, the shaft of the spindle is straight, I believe 88-89 had the step down in size.

13
Have you checked spark at the plug? What about checking all the electricals per the manual?

Intersted in selling without the spindles?

Not really unless there is a buyer for the spindles, I don't have any use for them.
