Projects / 443 Puma - Dune Motor Build
« on: June 19, 2016, 02:08:26 AM »
I saw that crank at Pete's, when I dropped off my motor last month. Pretty impressive workmanship, with all the heavy metal they added and that massively reworked rod.

Thanks for the input guys. the package I'm eyeing has 19.25" Fox Float shocks. I run a 21.5" front tire w/ 19.5" rear, so I may very well have difficulty getting my ride height set. My rear sets real nice at 7 5/8" with the front near 8". (currently 7 3/8" rear with my standard travels only holding 7.25" up front). I'm fine with an 8" ish ride height as the riding we do is more XC than MX. (fast trail riding in the Oregon dunes mainly). I was more concerned with fit, finish and adjustability. and was hoping to see a pic or 2 of them on an R.

I'm looking at upgrading my front suspension from +2 Lonestar sports W/ Maultech Gt Elite shocks, to a Long travel +3 setup probably with Fox Floats. I've found a good package price w/ DC4 arms and brake lines, but don't know anyone that has ran these arms on an R. looking for any input from people who have or have had them.

Carburetor, Intake, and Exhaust / ESR TRX 5B Tuning?
« on: April 19, 2016, 11:09:47 PM »
Appreciate the feedback. I am running .027 on the timing right now, up from .023 ( I have a friend that broke a piston at .038, he runs his 344 at .020 timing.). Pete and I have talked about it in the past, even dropped the timing slightly going from a 1/4" spacer to 3/16". I ran the TRX11 on this motor for a while and it picks up the pipe super easy on a DEJ 3rd clip 52 pilot 175 main, and tries to rip my arms off. If it wasn't so stupid loud I'd probably just keep running it. Its about 94db at idle 106db if you check it at 3500 like the cops at the Oregon dunes do.

Carburetor, Intake, and Exhaust / ESR TRX 5B Tuning?
« on: April 19, 2016, 06:43:49 PM »
I have a ESR 344 built by Pete (Hybrid Engineering) Mx / Duneish porting, PVL Digital ign, 39 PWK carb, ESR intake, Vforce 3 reeds. I have a TRX5B standard mount and a TRX11 CM. I have had a difficult time getting any bottom end throttle response out of the 5B pipe. I have tried a bunch of different jetting combos 52-58 pilots 175-195 mains and DEG, DEJ DGH DJG CEJ CEL needles and then some. Mid and top end are great. my TRX11 CM has better bottom end though. Mainly curious as to if anyone else has had trouble tuning the 5B pipe.

Lounge / which go pro to buy?
« on: November 23, 2015, 09:50:38 PM »
I have the GoPro Hero4 Black. Had it about a year now. It works great but wish the battery life was better. I usually record 1080P at 60 wide and it gives about an hour of runtime and uses 20-30 gigabytes. It will do 4k, but it gets really warm and only runs about 30 minutes. Overall I really like it, but the silver or the new session would probably do everything I want. Don't have any experience with the other brands.  you can see some video form it on my youtube channel  Username jafa0.                       https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8aBN9YKx-oxWTGnpmxK7jQ            I think everything but the drag vids are from my cam.

Have a friend with an Arens chassis with a ESR330 cylinder. PWK carb and ESR airbox eliminator. Having difficulties finding an intake that fits well with this setup. UPP TRX is too long. Stock works but has to be pulled down a bit and carb cap still hits frame. 89 CR has to be pulled down a bit but fits decent.  Interested as to what others have tried and or what works best.

Thanks for all the votes. Big thanks to Eddie for sponsoring this contest, and for the new bling!!

Carburetor, Intake, and Exhaust / Cascade Innovations CSFX Silencer
« on: March 28, 2015, 08:14:03 PM »
I almost bought 1 of the last 2 silencers Cascade had 6 months ago or so. I would be interested in one, or the parts for a DIY if you decided to make some. My TRX5/ FMF Powercore is about 96dB at idle. 103ish at 3500 rpm.
