This motor is brand new and never fired. everything is exactly how it was when cut from the bike. This engine was stored in a unconditoned barn so there is some rust on the clutch arm, carb, shift lever, and kicker. The previous onwer used some sort of lubricant that was sprayed in the cylinder for storage. The cylinder walls looks perfect with all the factory cross hatch and no rust. The paint has fade and some scrapes but still looks great. I had intentions of running this motor but i figured someone doing a restoration or just wanting to collect it could have better use for it than me. Im asking $1600 obo. If you need any more pictures or have any questions just let me know.

Engine and Bottom End / Lean starting when cold??

On the PWK style of carb the choke jet is a brass jet that is pressed into the upper carb body on the spigot side of the carb.  The choke jet is about 5 mm in diameter and hangs down 22mm below the gasket surface from the upper carb body into the float bowl.  The fuel flow flows through a .033" hole inside of this brass press-in jet.  I usually enlarge this hole to .035" to .040" for gas and .046" to .050" for alcohol depending upon the temperature.

CAUTION:

It does not take much of an increase in diameter to make a difference.

Does a standard 36mm pj have this starter jet?? or is this only a feature in a pwk?

One issue that i have with my bike that I have found only occur when the weather is pretty chilly. On the first start of a cold day the bike starts lean and has a very high idle then after about 30sec it will then start to run like normal. The motor is a fresh ported stock cylinder with 300 sleeve, cool head with a pump gas dome, carb is a 36mm pj and I know my jetting is a bit on the rich side at 165 main, 48 pilot, needle clip on 2nd from the top. Once everything is warmed up it runs fantastic and gives me zero issues. I will try to upload a video of a cold start and maybe that will better explain what im trying to describe haha.

Been riding the R more lately and its feeling better, guess I just got used to the 450. The seat still sucks and my clutch feels much harder than the 450 too. It sure is a hell of alot more fun though haha.

Thats what im gonna try. I have cr high on the 450 and really like them. Ive been lookin at those ccp stabilzers for sometime and just never pulled the trigger on one. Know the seat has got to go lol. I know ceet, hi flite, and fourwerx all make foam but whose is the softest?? I want this thing to be a sofa lol.

They are just at a neautral setting at the moment. The bike feels so much better than it did. I think my main issue is in the seat, stabilizer and bars. Rode both bikes today back to back and Ive narrowed it down that the bars, seat, and precision stabilizer on the 450 are what making it feel smoother than it actually is haha. The 250 just has a plain ol pep stick stablilzer on it now.

Also, will handlebars make a difference? My 250 has a set of protaper 7/8 atv bend with odi lock-on grips, the 450 has tag t2 fat bars with smith grips? can different handlebars soak up vibrations better?

Thats how my 450 feels to me. The 250 feels like im on top of it  and sitting high up. Maybe its all in my seat, Its equal to concrete lol.

Can't compare.  I love the way my 88 r feels.  It feels like your in it.  Riding the 450 it feels like your "on" it
