Great day of riding at Winchester 8-21-13 with my cool shirt on!

Hey Tony I think this was the day I saw you at Florence Subway? I recognized that shirt a mile away...and the bike!

Lounge / sparks mx vs trx5
« on: August 21, 2013, 09:48:00 PM »
I havent ran the MX sparks but I have the TT sparks. In my honest opinion, I think it is a better pipe all around than the trx5. I have ran the 5 and it seemed like it didnt have the punch that the TT did. The sparks pulled better down low and all the way to the top. Plus I think the sparks sounds ten times better :)

Engine and Bottom End / ESR 330 Failure
« on: July 17, 2013, 12:04:42 AM »
I too went through multiple problems with my ESR330 non bolt on. It would seize up after maybe 3 or 4 hours or easy riding. I believe I went throu 4 pistons and finally gave up. I couldnt keep the O rings in the head either. I was blowing those out about every other ride. On the last piston I ended up pulling 2 head studs out from all the on-off of the head and gave up. It is still sitting in my shed to this day. Been very happy with my Sphinx so far. Good luck with the cylinder. Hopefully everything works out for you.

Body and Controls / Maier Pros and Cons

My set didnt fit very well. I have to push my fronts around to get to line up. My scoop doesnt line up anymore with the front fenders. My rears are pretty floppy even with the brace. They look good when they are one but kinda a pain to get on. I think I would buy fullbores next time around.

Just pulled the wrist pin bearing. It is cracked in 6 places. The pin is scored in one place.

I honestly dont know. My guess is when I had the whole motor torn down for a rebuild 3 years ago, but that I dont know if Dave changed.

Polanda: Pulled the cover and it has no play.

Puma: I had Dave Moore do the lower end (which worries me), and Cameron at Redline do the topend. The piston was not hitting the top of the cylinder from what I can see.

The big end does not have any up and down play. The wrist pin does have movement up and down. I know the piston can move side to side but I can also "rotate" the piston left and right. I dont know how to explain that. Im trying to figure out what could be causing that louder knocking noise without tearing into the bottom end.

First off I have a +4 78mm sphinx that was done about a year and half ago. The crank is about 3 years old and the cylinder and piston are maybe 1 1/2 years old. The last ride I went on it started making a "knocking noise". Alot more than the usual 250r motor makes IMO. I pulled the topend and the wrist pin seems to have alot of movement. The connecting rod on the bottom seems to have a little bit of side to side movement as well. My questions are how much movement are they suppose to have? What is spec on the upper and lower end of the rod?

Thanks
Ryan
