I definitely prefer the look of the Hinson style.

Interesting. I don't think the sleeve cuts into the water jacket. Can you see the crack in the water jacket? Not sure if you can clean it and get epoxy in there. Would be best to try and epoxy the crack from both sides. Good luck with the race.

The crack in the picture doesn't look like it would be the culprit. Looks like it goes from the exhaust port the the secondary a exhaust ports. You could bolt the head on and plug one of the coolant elbows. Then pressurize through the other coolant elbow and see if you can locate the leak easier.

So glad you didn't get hurt. Consider yourself lucky or blessed. Breaking front end parts can end badly even at slower speeds. A 350lb wheeler pile driving you into the earth rarely ends without injury.

Might be worth checking into different materials for the rods and/or ends. Possible to get the ends chrome or nickel plated?

Engine and Bottom End / Re: O - Ring Size for Hinson Clutch cover ?
« on: December 10, 2025, 04:17:21 PM »
Should be able to measure the ID of the case groove with a tape measure. If you have calipers, I would measure the depth of the groove. Target an oring cross section ~0.5mm larger. A good website to use is McMaster Carr. With ID and cross section you should be able to find a standard size that you can cross reference to your local hardware store.

Unfortunately I don't have a case readily available to measure.

That is a proper build. Something to be said when you can count all the original parts on your bike with one hand.

Chrome plating can be stripped. Should be able to get them zinc plated afterwards.

Anodize looks good, I am even found of the stator cover. I thought BHP was going to put one together. I am sure our local news correspondent croat1 will update us. He has a finger on the pulse of the 250r community.
