ATC250R / Trikers! Post up pics of your 3-wheeled death machines!
« on: May 20, 2014, 12:35:45 AM »
Thanks yo... It's a rider bike, I'll get to cosmetics later... but had a good ride today. Did a full throttle plug chop, after the exhaust and reed change, also has a uni filter, don't know if that matters much...
I was rich at idle and only got about 4 sec's at W/O before i killed it. It was a new plug and looked light to me. I played with the needle, raised two notches but seemed to open a hole between 1/4 and 1/2 throttle. I haven't tuned a two stroke before so this will include a learning curve....

A couple of my newly acquired 85R.... I picked it up about 3mos ago,  literally have about 45mins seat time on it, and immediately tore it  down for it's 29yr inspection... ready to ride now.

She made her maiden voyage today, to Prairie City in Sac, CA...  It's  all dirty now.... one fork shock is leaking, and my upper chain roller,  was kinda busted up... now its gone.
A Good Day!

Some videos of the bike:

riding when we had about 6-8 inches of snow in Jan 2014 (this year). just ripping the 310 in single digit temps!

Got me jealous! I loved snow days as a kid in Minnesota.... Live in Cali now so snow days are a thing of the past, unless I travel up the hill towards Tahoe. Where is STL, looks like you have a pretty "dirtbike" tolerant neighborhood...NICE!

We used to go out onto the sod fields with a few inches of snow, and you couldn't make a mistake... as fast as you want and it would pitch, and spin if you went too far! Good Times!

Where at in the panhandle are you riding? I used to live in Spocompton and would go to Kellogg, Pinehurst and Wallace. Amazing country

Yep! That's the place... father in law is in Smelterville, which is between Pinehurst and Kellogg. He's always had a 4x4/utility quad for me to cruise, and all I could ever think about was getting something a little sportier. Looking forward to this years trip.

Here's a few of my initial cleanup... I had to replace a few things just to get it right...
Chain and Sprockets were shot
Rear brake was frozen
Stripped the shotty grey rattle can paint from the front wheel, stripper wouldn't touch the grey on the rears, so I'll live with it for awhile....
Light polish on front forks
Cleaned up and painted rusty hardware, rear hubs, etc...
New brake linings
New Boyeson reeds
ebay FMF pipe, and new S/A silencer
Silicone rad hoses
Twist throttle and cable
Steel braided front brake line
Swapped out the rusty six pack grab bar for a nice PRM aluminum one
Had the wrong lug nuts installed, missing swing arm chain slider, exhaust hangers, seat rubbers, Etc...
I've also picked up an ebay, desert tank, which I've cleaned up and painted white for the mountain rides... I'll post up when it gets mounted

Just a bunch of cleaning in general

Got my green sticker a couple days ago, only waiting on my silicone exhaust coupler, tomorrow, then she's ready for a ride...!

I grew up on three wheels, built a career, family, and now the children have grown enough that dad can once again... try to kill himself on a tricycle. Just playin'... love a trike! Rode a 200x as a kid, always wanted a 250R, many years went by, came across a running and complete R, bought it, stripped it, and am now simply catching up on many years of neglected maintenance to get my newly acquired cream puff ready for some long trail runs in the northern Idaho panhandle... mountain shit! I'm here merely as a spectator... we share the same power, and quest's for more... I love the forums for shared knowledge, and am here to steal your's, and in turn will share anything I have.

Let's Rock!

Still ATC's Yo... Quads give me, what I call a false sense of security...  I'd rather be REALLY insecure... and be ready for the correction needed... ??? Just me.
