It's got a pretty noticeable bang when it happens. It can cause serious damage especially on 2 strokers. It happens when the gas explodes early. Not the same as pre ignition ( which causes detonation)

I don't know what oil you are running or what the mix ratio is but I can tell you I personally have at least 25 or more engines running around on synthetic with no issues. I've had motors go 5000+ miles running synthetic.
 Ams is ok. I still have some in the garage but there for a cheaper more accessible options out there.
Especially for 10w-40 bike oil.

Probably just better as a paperweight... By the time it's all said and done I don't think it'd be worth the cash.

I have a Makita impact that I use for smaller stuff use that about a hundred times a day.
I have a pretty loaded shop though, band saw, drill press, mig,tig,welding table, pedestal and belt grinder, balljoint- u joint upress,dremel, and a few thousand other hand tools.
Only thing I really need that I don't have is a large parts washer...I wouldn't mind a big arsenal dual stage compressor but the one I got works ok.

I got the big one. It's still not that big, carbs have to be flipped over to completely get cleaned.
I run mine with mineral spirits in it, seems to work best of stuff I've tried.
No foam or anything but it does make an pretty annoying buzz.
I know people freak about rubber and mineral spirits and or parts cleaner but if it's not left for an extended period of time it doesn't hurt.
I've probably cleaned 200+ carbs with either one and never had an issue.
It also works pretty well on chains. Just remove the heavy crap before you put it in or it will take longer to clean.

I'd have to say one of the best purchases I've made is an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner from Harbor Freight.
 I can stick parts in the cleaner and go do other stuff to get work done instead of cleaning parts by hand.
I clean a LOT of carbs and it is a serious time saver. I just pull the float bowl and cycle it a few times. Carb is done vs spending a half hour each carb pulling all the jets cleaning all the varnish and running a cleaner thru all the holes in the jets.
Let's me make money other places and I still charge the same for cleaning carbs.

I'd go down to like  a 45 or 48 pilot and a 152 main and clip the needle on the  bottom. The pilot and needle overlap more than people think...

I'd stick with right there if you want to play it safe, cardboard brown is a good safe color to not have to worry about jet changes every time the weather changes.  You could go a size or so leaner to get a bit more out of her but I personally wouldn't.

Vf reeds aren't my favorite. I prefer boysen myself, don't know if they make em for the trx.
For some reason vf reeds on EFI sleds you have to crack the throttle a bit to get em to start.
Another thing that I don't care for about reeds in general is unless you are heavily modded they aren't worth jack.

I got some junk cylinders to practice on. I did a little bit on one a while back. I also fix a lot of people's junk so cylinders aren't hard to come by.

I figure I'll get some practice at least cleaning up the intake and exhaust ports. May not be as much gain as you can get but just having smoother air flow will help some.

II've always been curious about how to tell how big to take the ports? I know you can buy the pre made templates but I also know there's a lot of guys who just do it by hand, do you go by hand or use software? I was thinking of messing with some junk cylinders I have from a snowmobile but just don't know how much is too much.

Are you doing anything with the side transfer ports?
